Emperor Karl Ludwig I of Lavenrunz came to the throne as a result of intrigues that placed the Von Sachshausen family firmly ahead of all rivals. He greatly was concerned with the defiant power of the noble families and increased absolutism. During his reign he supported the Papacy greatly and was given the title "Defender of the Faith"
