National Description

Kaukolastan is a nation devoted to science and technology, as well as to order and stability. Utilitarian by nature, its people believe that a perfect world is one in which all things flow with mathematical precision and efficiency. Stemming from this, there is a widespread belief that all problems can be solved through the development and application of technology. To these people, there is no such thing as a "societal" or "emotional" problem... there are simply different forms of technology.

For example, when the polution levels began to rise to astronomical new heights, Kaukolastan simply installed ionic scrubbers on the tops of buildings. From this, the industries continued to produce without loss of profit, a new industry sprung up, and the people were breathing cleaner air than ever before. Most nations would have been forced to inflict regulations or live with polution, but through technological prowess, Kaukolastan was able to not only win all counts, but to benefit economically.

This sort of devotion, even faith, to technology permeates society. This belief allows Kaukolastan to stay at the forefront of high technology (within its time-period, that is), and the ability to adapt, advance, and produce is almost unparalleled. However, this blind faith in progress has its weakness, as well. Sprinting forward in the dark, one can only run so long before falling, and the nation has been sprinting for centuries. Some say that the Fall is coming... [Deicide Saga]

Besides this technological fixation, there are other aspects to Kaukolastani culture. An ancient society, by human standards, it is rich in the arts, religion, and history. The Corsingard Mural, for instance, is a constant work in progree, begun two thousand years before, and updated every twenty years by a new Master, who draws a segment on "modern" life in the nation. As such, the wrap-around mural forms a flowing history of images from early society until now, detailing every major event.

The belief in historical importance can be seen in the amount of museums scattered throughout the nation. In almost every major city, there can be found mutliple fonts of knowledge, ranging from history to art to industry and science. The public libraries are also monuments to the knowledge of history, including the venerable Corsingard Archive, which has stood, in one form or another for over three millenia, and still retains preserved versions of the original manuscripts written so long ago on stone or papyrus scrolls. The Archive is open to the general public, but to view the un-indexed or original writings, one must have permission from the library Chair. In the catacombs below the library, there are thousands of thousands of uncounted volumes, too much to ever correllate, but harboring a wealth of knowledge.

Kaukolastan has long been a part of the Roman Catholic Church. Converting early to the message of one God, rather than many, there was little trouble with the conversion or the ramifications. Since the early times, Kaukolastan has long been a haven for the Church, and the grand Cathedrals can attest to this fact.

The final part of the Kaukolastan is the Dream of Tomorrow, and the Illusion Web of the Internal Security Agency. This information is completely covered in this link: Inside the ISA
