Kaxo, officially the Republic of Kaxo (IPA: [ripə'blək əv ka'kso]) is an archipelago in Absolution, in the southwest of the Western Ocean of the region. Results of the First Census of April 1st, 2007 show population numbers to be 5,053,607, but due to the widespread religiosity, the birthrate is enormous. Its capital is Kaxo. Its most famous citizen is multitalented mime artist Wat Jared. Kaxo is known for the cultivation of an amazing variety of citrus plants and it's odd calendar of folklore festivals, which are celebrated by all ages and parts of society.
Geography
A environmentally stunning archipelago in the southeast of the Western Ocean of Absolution, comprising the Island of Kaxo, the Island of Kaxolia in the west, the Twin Islands of Kaxilia in the east, and its outlying islets inhabited by a hard-nosed, intelligent population. The national animal is the native indigenous, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests and on the vast beaches. It can easily be recongnised and discerned from humans by its full nudity and inability to be really taken seriously due to its peculiar costums.
Politics
The Kaxonians love a good election and/or referendum, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion. The government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Healthcare, and Social Welfare. Crime, especially youth-related, is relatively low, thanks to a well-funded police force. The Republic of Kaxo is notable for its compulsory military service of three weeks.
Economy
Kaxo's national currency is the tree leaf, making everyone immensely rich. In order to solve the inflation problem this causes, major deforestation campaigns are held every now and then to effectively revalue the leaf by burning down all the forests. The average income tax rate is 33%, but higher for the wealthy. The private sector is dominated by the Soda Sales industry. The favorite quality is mandarin orange, followed by orange and lemon. Plans to include a non-citric quality in the selection failed due to the poor diversity of local nature.
Foreign Relations
Kaxo is a member of Absolution and of the United Nations since April 25th, 2007, endorsing The Republic of Arming Republics as Regional Candidate.
