Brief History

The history of the Commonwealth of Kayros is fairly short. 33 years ago, Kayros seceded from a larger, nameless nationstate and formed the Republic of Kayros. As happens so often, the Republic was quickly subverted by a single man, Praetor K. Xevert. The Praetor declared martial law soon after his election, and reformed the Republic into the Empire of Kayros.

After 15 years under the rule of the Emperor, a popular revolt, led by a popular pro-democracy leader named Aeros Kenzati, overthrew the Empire. Kenzati was appointed leader of the new Confederation of Kayros, ruling the nation for the next 5 years. However, the weak central authority quickly proved unable to live up to the task of rebuilding the nation after 15 years of strife. Kenzati forced a referendum through the system, and the voters reformed the government into the Commonwealth of Kayros. In a surprise twist, Kenzati was not elected President - instead, a senior figure from the Empire, Eckert V. Ross, was elected; Kenzati was elected as his Vice President.

The Commonwealth of Kayros is now known for its serious attempts at liberalizing its social policies, freeing its economy, and loosening restrictions on international travel and trade. It is also a vehement supporter of equal rights for all people, regardless of sex, race, or sexual orientation.
