The Federated Dominion of Kelanis is a massive, economically powerful nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 3.979 billion are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Education. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Automobile Manufacturing industry.
Students are known to arrive at school in their pyjamas, the police have reaffirmed their tough stance on drugs, convicted felons are forced into slavery for their crimes, and cremation is compulsory for the deceased. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Kelanis's national animal is the peregrine, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Kelanis Dollar.
