Kevin Dunne (born July 27, 1942) is the current Vice President of New Felix. He had previously served in the navy for 28 years, becoming the rank of Admiral and being awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Prior to his Vice Presidency, he had served as a nine-term senator from Laettner.

Early Life

Dunne's was born in 1942 in the suburbs of Laettner. His father served in the New Felix Navy and thus, he was raised mostly by his mother. In 1960, at the age of eighteen, Dunne himself joined the Felixan Navy, serving for two years before receiving a university grant. During his first two years in the navy, Dunne saved the lives of six sailors who had fallen overboard, earning him the Non-Combat Congressional Medal of Honor. After receiving his university degree in 1966, Dunne returned to the New Felix Navy, quickly working his way up the naval hierarchy.

SANF

In 1980, Dunne was appointed as Supreme Admiral of Naval Forces (SANF). At 38, he was the youngest person ever to attain that rank. As SANF, Dunne worked to ensure that the Felixan Navy received enough funding, training, and had the capabilities for rapid deloyment.

He also recommended to Presidents Xavier Desan and Richard Buckerson that the Felixan Navy deactivate all its offensive first strike missile submarines, a request that was ultimately rejected.

Senate Career

Dunne resigned his naval post in 1987 to persue a run for the New Felix Senate. Since his 1987, he had won re-election eight straight times (1989, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003), all by landslide proportions.

As a Senator, he worked to increase veteran benefits, upgrade environmental legislation, and control handgun sales. He has also been a firm opponent of nuclear weapons, calling for a complete Felixan Disarmament several times going back to his Naval Career.

Dunne served as the chairman of several senate comittees, including foreign relations, arms control, and veteran's affairs.

Vice Presidency

In July 2004, Dunne announced that he would seek the nomination of the New Conservative Party for President of New Felix. He won several primaries, but the nomination went to former Vice President and former Wysterian Union Chancellor Paul Pullman, who selected Dunne as his vice-presidential running mate. The Pullman/Dunne ticket narrowly beat the Pistapoch/Bradley ticket, and Dunne was inaugurated as Vice President in March 2005.

As Vice President, Dunne's first major step was to create the Senate Drug Commission to analyze the Felixan War on Drugs and present solutions to the President on how to win it. He has also represented New Felix at the summits of Slavery and Nuclear Proliferation in Prabha.

Future

Dunne has kept quiet about any possible future Presidential runs, but his supporters and advisors have hinted that he will seek the New Conservative Nomination for President after Pullman decides to step down. Should he decide to run for President, he would almost be guaranteed the nomination as only one sitting Vice President has lost their pary's nomination for President in history.
