Kharin

A small but powerfulfully devout nation, The Holy Empire of Kharin is landlocked in a high mountain plain. The bitter lands have a greyish tone most days, but occational spots of high-altitude beauty shine through. There are craggy peaks that relatively surround the region.

The peoples are led by the Empress and Emperor of Kharin. These figures are rather ritualized and secretive. They speak through a moderator and wear elaborate, symbolic clothing but simplistic masks. They rule as the avatars of God, and spread their grip everywhere. Nothing escapes their dogma, whether it be political, economical, or social. Life is God, and God is Life. This produces a rather elaborated personality cult, as the population supplicate the Empress and Emperor with prayers, and keep small votive figures in home altars. Little is known and nothing is seen about the human form behind the raignment, but other nations try to break Kharin's "psychotic dictatorship" by announcing a sacraligious slander: that the "God" is human, and that person dies and is replaced; the religion (and only religion) of Kharin keeps this switcheroo secret by comepletely covering up the person and not letting them talk.
