Kinetic Energy Resistant Insulation foam
Kinetic Energy Resistant Insulating foam or KERI foam is a copyrighted product of the Royal Shipyards of Isselmere-Nieland. It is ceramic-infused polymer foam insulation that provides limited kinetic energy resistance when filled into dry void spaces in armour composites, serving to convert kinetic energy into thermal energy via sublimation. Its main purpose, however, is as an insulator and NBC filter layer.
Product
KERI foam is an environmentally friendly substance in solid form and generally so in its gaseous state. Personnel operating in areas wherein KERI foam has undergone phase transition are, however, instructed to use a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
