Olaf IV Comnenus

His Role

HRH King Olaf IV of Unspecifistan is the Head of State, and military commander-in-chief, of the Constitutional Monarchy of Unspecifistan. His political power is restricted by the Constitution and Parliament. Most of his Royal Powers have been delegated down to the Premier of Parliament.

His Religious role is small, but crucial - he will have the job of appointing the new Metropolitan of Imperopolis each time that post becomes vacant - assuming that his proposal is validated by the Patriarch of Constantinople. He also will approve the Monist High Priest into his post, and oversee the separation of church and state.

In the meantime, the King has a vital role in overseeing the Royal Court, a glamorous and culturally influential critical body, which is the heart of the social beat of Unspecifistan. He also heads the Royal Household - a huge semi-corporate financially independent body which runs all the royal expenses and covers the annual dividend to Parliament.

His Life

Olaf Eugenius Comnenus was born in 1960 as the eldest son of a member of a minor branch of the mighty Comnenus family and a Scandanavian Merchant. His family moved to Imperopolis in 1965, seeking a new life for themselves in the Socialist haven of the Peoples Republic of Manchuria. However, that state collapsed in 1976, leaving the young boy out of an education and his parents out of job.

Olaf quickly aquired the skills one needed to make ends meet for his family, and rose rapidly in the local hierarchy - with a renown for a quick mind and careful diplomacy. These skills would serve him well in the future.

With local education non-existent, his parents shipped him off to the University of Harbin - the only nearby university still functioning - in 1980. There, sustained by a life of hard work and some quasi-legal business deals, he completed a five year course on International Relations and Politics in 1985, and went back to Imperopolis, where he played a minor role in restablishing the University, and in 1986 he was appointed Head of Political Science. He remained in this role for the next 16 years, during which time he married Anna Reymond, the daughter of the head of the local English minority.

In September 2005, he was elected President of the Republic of Unspecifistan and Affilated States. With that state failing miserably, on the 15th Septmeber he took a sudden - and highly fateful - decision. He chose to abolish the Republican system and replace it with a new Constitutional Monarchy - with himself as head. As he was the fourth man with name of Olaf to hold the Presidency, he chose to become HRH Olaf IV in honour of his predeccessors.

He is still married to HRH Queen Anna, and they have five children:
