The Holy Republic of Kingsford is a religious and rather satirical nation in The Plain Flat Plains. Its people are very fond of sports, but are even moreso fond of mocking others.

Politics

Kingsford is a Republic of around 4 billion people. Every two and a half years, a parliamentary election is held. The first year is for the high house, the second year is for the low house, and it repeats in such fashion.

Elected Leadership

The "king" (now an elected position) is chosen by the voters as well, half a year after the high house parliamentary elections take place. He is chosen by the people from the membership of the majority party in the high house, and every member of that party is required to run. The current king is John VIII.

The King assumes a name of the old nomenclature, regardless of his given christian name, and presides over the high house until the next election. There is no limit to how long an individual can hold the position of King. Another official presides over the low house, and is elected in a similar manner, called the Prince Elect. The current Prince Elect is Alvor Noredoun. If the King were not able to perform his duties, the Prince Elect, though a member of the low house, will take his place, serving as an interim King. He holds interim position until the king is able to resume his duties, another election for King takes place, or an election for Prince Elect takes place and the current Prince Elect is ousted from his primary position. If the latter were to be the case, then the new Prince Elect would resume duties as the interim King until one of the King resumes his duties or a new King is elected.

There are certain restrictions as to who can be King or Prince Elect. For King, the holder must be male and of at least 26 years of age. He must be a current member of the high house for the majority party. He must have been born in Kingsford, be a current citizen of Kingsford, and cannot have previously been a citizen of any other nation. The Prince Elect must be a male and of at least 24 years of age. He must be a current member of the low house for the majority party. He must have been born in Kingsford, be a current citizen of Kingsford, and cannot have previously been a citizen of any other nation.

Political Parties

The assistant leader in the high house is Ledrow Fitensing. In the low house, the official leader is Alvor Noredoun, the Prince Elect, while the affective leader is Ketn Saurszac.

The Beautiful Kingsford Party

The Beautiful Kingsford Party is the second largest party in Kingsford. It takes an environmental stance but is more conservative on moral issues. It is the second largest party in the High House and the third largest party in the Low House. The leader in the High House is Garren Loumes.

The minister, the head of the ministry, is appointed by the king. Four additional members are appointed by the majority party in the high house. Two members of each ministry are appointed by the majority party in the low house, and one member is appointed by the minority party in the Low House. At one time, there was the Kingsford Pillar League, considered by some to be the largest and most complex domestic league in the world. It collapsed because of financial constraints. Most clubs dissolved shortly thereafter. Some club teams joined the domestic league of Liverpool England, with two of them having won titles to date, but most of them have since relocated into Liverpool England and out of Kingsford. All of the clubs that transferred to the Liverpool England league maintain a patch of the old style Kingsford Flag on the left shoulder.
