Kingsland is one of the four home countries of the United Kingdom, forming a distinct political and cultural unit united with its three fellow home countries under the monarch of the United Kingdom and governed by Parliament in Imperium. It is the second largest of the home countries after the Home Islands; although this will change once Novikov is formally joined into the United Kingdom as the fifth home country.

History

1792: Kingsland is founded as a colony by Great Britain. Takes its name from the letters of patent issued by King George II, in effect the land of the king, while the colonial capital was named in honour of the queen consort, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

1801: The northern shores of Kingsland are separated by letters of patent by King George III of Great Britain, the new colony named New Georgia with its capital to be Port Marlton

1832: The large island in what is known as the Gulf of Fulke, named for Lieutenant Chester Fulke, navigator and charter on the expedition which charted the future colony of Kingsland, is incorporated as a third separate colony to be known as King George’s Island with its capital of Port Melbourne, named in honour of then Home Secretary Viscount Melbourne.

1848: The southwest portion of Kingsland and the northeast portion are created as separate colonies, the first as Victoria with its capital at Queenstown and in the northeast as Princeland with its capital along the coast to be called Port Albert, in honour of the prince consort of Queen Victoria, Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

1902: Following the path of the Australian colonies, four of the five colonies are federated into the Commonwealth of Kingsland with King George’s Island remaining a separate colony until 1914 when it votes to join the Commonwealth of Kingsland.

1909: Britain recognises Kingsland as a self-governing dominion of the crown.

1931: Britain passes the Statute of Westminster, which effectively allows for the independence of the dominions upon their ratification of the statute.

1943: With Treasury reserves running low to aid Kingsland’s support of Britain in World War II, the dominion passes the Statute of Westminster Adoption Act and backdates its application to 1939, allowing for the dominion to enact war powers that grant the state the means to nationalize companies and industries during times of war to generate revenue.

1982: Riots break out across the nation in response to a slumping economy and the disparate status of native Irathrians and Kingslanders. By the end of the year the riots reach the point of full-scale civil war, with pleas for assistance all but ignored in Britain due to its involvement in the Falklands. Kingsland turns to the Commonwealth of Azazia, a former British colony itself, and proposes entering its union in exchange for immediate military and economic assistance.

1983: The Commonwealth of Azazia accepts the offer of Kingsland and sends troops to restore order. The distant territory is incorporated as a republic.

2005: In conjunction with the Empire Act, the republic of Kingsland is incorporated into the kingdom.

2006: The Empire Reorganisation Act recognises Kingsland as a home country and grants all privileges and responsibilities to the territory.
