Kolakola-Kalani-Kipokalikolo-o-Kali-Kekaloke-Kaiwakapaku-i-Kali-Kuikea Kalakaman III. of Ou was the last King of Ou 1876-1881.He was the twentieth son of Kalakaman I. Kaikapu-Kunuia of Ou ,born in 1840,2 years before his fathers death.He succeeded the throne as King of Ou,after the death of his fifteenth brother,King Kalakaman II. Kohokauholau II. of Ou in 1876.In 1878 the King of Desh , Yama'k Watay IV. of Desh sent Admiral Aikak O to ensure the "protection" of Ou by Desh-a treaty of friendship was signed in 1879.However,in 1880 Desh officialy took over the key government posts,put forwad their "general representatives" and "colonial supervisors" and so indirectly anexed Ou.On 15th January 1881 a protectorate was proclaimed over Ou.The King rebelled against this on 2nd February and was deposed "de jure" on 3th February 1881 and "de facto" on 18th February.On 1th March the Kingship of Ou was abolished and the King was taken away all the way to Desh,where he was a prisoner until popular pressure forced the new king Yama'k Samdariah II. of Desh to free him on 17th May 1896-however he was forbiden acces to any of the 40 islands of the "Teritory of Ou".He stayed in Desh until 1909 when he moved to the Arnabyazi Empiere ,where he stayed until he was exiled by the government of the Arnabyazi Republic in 1922.In 1923 he returned to Desh and pleaded to its King to be allowed to "die home".His appeal was refused and after several harsh reactions in his corespondence,intercepted by CG IX ,he was arrested for "treason" on the grounds that he was Desh citizen after the anexation oof his Kingdom.In 1924 the 84 year old former king was sentenced to 20 years in a normal state prison,where he was,however,isolated from all the inmates and was to take his baths at a personal tub in his cell.There,he also had a radio and a daily income of Desh propaganda newspapers.His captors wanted him to "relent" and "ask the Emperor for forgivenes".He refused to do this.In 1927 he was threatened that,should he not relent he would be put with normal inmates,witch he would "not survive".He replied that his 20 years is a life sentence and that a few years less "wouldnt count".In 1928 he was removed to house arest at the Desh court.In 1930, on the day of his 9Oth birthday he was released from house arrest by King Karb'ai Yathuluk V. of Desh ,however he was stil not allowed to return to Ou.He ventured there himself as a hidden passanger on a small crewboat in 1932,was however captured before he could reach shore and re-deported to Desh.There he was sentenced to 5 years house arrest for "breaking the ban of turism" to Ou.In 1933 he was again pardoned and in 1934 he was finaly allowed to return home, after 53 years of exile.He returned to his palace and died there aged 102 in 1942.He had three wifes,but left no issue.
