Overview

The Krytenia national football team represents Krytenia in international football competitions - usually the World Cup and the Atlantian Oceania Championships. They come under the auspice of Krytenian football's governing body, the Krytenian Football Association (KFA).

Though well-established, Krytenia are, alas, not a successful side. Their form in AOCAF tournaments is at best patchy, though they did reach the final of one tournament - only to lose to bitter rivals Starblaydia. In the World Cup, the first round was, until World Cup 23, as far as the side got. There, they reached the last sixteen, and in World Cup 24 this was improved upon further by reaching the semi-finals. World Cup 25's disappointment was made all the worse by the Starblaydis lifting the trophy. Expect revenge.

History

World Cup 15

Krytenia first entered the World Cup Qualifiers for World Cup 15 in an attempt to travel to The Eagles Nest and Eauz. Led by Seth Grüber, Krytenia were ranked 121st in the World thanks to their impressive debut a few months earlier in the Baptism Of Fire Cup - in a tournament that included future rival nations Oaker and Turori. Their first Qualifying match ended in defeat away at the hands of Lovebug, 2-1, with Colin Ulvæus scoring Krytenia's first World Cup goal. Despite an impressive 2-1 defeat of then-greats Dennisov, the Celestials were eliminated sixth.

AOCAF 1

Organising the first AO Regional Tournament, and taking up the tasking of hosting, Krytenia would eventually finish fourth in a tournament notable for the emergence of Sarzonia.

Cup of Harmony 7

Hosting a tournament does not guarantee success, as Krytenia found when hosting this tournament. They won only one of six games, the wooden spoon match against Lykaia.

World Cup 16

The second attempt at Qualification for the World Cup came with a shot at getting to Rejistania and Brazillico for World Cup 16. Ari Smith and Colin Ulvæus filled their boots, and the side wrapped up qualification by defeating Squornshelous - finalists in the previous World Cup.

At the finals, however, they were outclassed. One point from nine, garnered against The Eagles Nest, saw Krytenia home from Rejistania before their postcards.

AOCAF 2

Somewhat distracted by the John Nwoko incident, a two-one defeat to Xile the low point of elimination in the first round. Political reasons meant it would be sixteen years before Krytenia returned to this tournament.

(More To Come)

Home Stadium

Krytenia do not have a single 'national stadium' like many other nations, home matches played in several Krytenian cities.

The Davis Memorial Stadium, Everton City, is the largest in the country, seating 115,000 fans and is most often used for the most-important occasions. Stadia in the cities of Bromham, Ousevale, Avidia, Aigburth and New Osteria play host to the national team most regularly; even the KLF's smallest ground, the Q-Soft Stadium in Neathill has hosted a game.

The Krytenia Home and Away shirts for World Cup 25; the famous quarters dropped for a special retro strip. Krytenia were once the only national side in the NSWC playing in quarters, though Bettia, who made their bow in World Cup 23,now have that privelege thanks to their green and yellow quartered strip.
