Current Foot-to-Ass (Formerly Defense) Section Advisor of Scolopendra, promoted there from his position of chief of staff of the Scolopendran AeroSpace Directorate. Given Supreme Emperor Speaker-Rrit's emphasis on diplomacy, so far it has been a quiet run for Hawke as compared to the previous Foot-to-Ass Advisor, Julius M Razak. His stance on the Ardan Conflict has been far more hard-line, surprisingly, than Razak's, but this is probably due to greater freedom to act from a leader decidedly against attempts at concilience with the Five Kingdoms.

Biography
Lance Hawke's life is about average for a professional soldier, although his career as an officer was exemplary. As a Foot-to-Ass Advisor, he has been relatively quiet yet effective in his position, instituting modern technologies and keeping the military forces of Scolopendra, mobile infantry and aerospace forces alike, as technologically advanced and capable as possible.
Pre-NS
Previous to The Break, Hawke led a perfectly average life. Finding in himself a somewhat anti-authority streak, he applied to the SASD Academy in order to get a sense of discipline he felt he needed. After a hard first year adapting to the rigid military environment, he adapted and excelled in his strategic thought classes, doing notably less well in his political science and leadership classes. While always managing to make an attachment with those under his command, his leadership style is notably authoritarian and demands complete obedience every order, verifying this obedience via "confidence drills"--ordering attacks and then rescinding them.
He was a command officer on the destroyer SWS-DD Centipede escorting the colony fleet to Titan and thus escaped the effects of The Break.

AeroSpace Directorate
He continued to prove himself, later as captain of Centipede, rising through the ranks of the SASD. He opted to remain with the SASD after the Military Realignment Treaty was signed rather than join the Triumvirate of Yut Combined Services, and moved into the vacuum of authority that the treaty created. He gradually climbed the ranks to Lieutenant General, coming to command the SASD under Supreme Emperor Lance Owen Hertzfeldt.
Foot-to-Ass Advisor
When Speaker-Rrit took up the Supreme Emperorship, he promoted Julius M Razak to PseudoEmperor and made LtGen Hawke Foot-to-Ass Advisor. This required his resignation from his beloved SASD, but he looked forward to the state of the Foot-to-Ass Advisor as being a near military commander of the TYCS. He was sorely disappointed when the CINCTYCS asserted his position and took a more active role in commanding the Combined Services. Hawke is still free to work on the diplomatic side of the table, something that he admittedly lacks the mindset for.
