The Capitalistic Behemoth of Leg-ends is a massive, safe nation, notable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population are either ruled by a small, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.
There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals devotes most of its attentions to defending the nation, Law & Order, and cutting regulations on businesses and people. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining industry, followed by Gambling and Arms Manufacturing.
Leg-ends history is difficult to trace but in recent times it has been a loyal member of Capitialist Paradise before the lure of Galts Gulch proved to much to resist.
Leg-ends's national animal is the Eagle and its currency is the Bottle Cap.
Early Political Career
Back in January 2005 the Delegate of Galts Gulch, The Anti Commi Clan, announced a restructuring of the configuration of power in Galts Gulch. These plans involved the creation of a Regional Assembly (RA) to check the Delegate's power and make the region more democratic. The first elections were held shorlty afterwards and Leg-ends had the honour of being in the inaugural RA along with four fellow Gulchians.
The RA initially had responsibilty in Defence, Espionage, Foreign Affairs, Constitutional Affairs and Recruitment with one portfolio taken up by each member. Taking control of Foreign Affairs, Leg-ends was the first ever Secretary of State for Galts Gulch and was quickly setting up links with like minded regions. Due to the sucessful running of the Department for State Leg-ends was re-elected for two further terms and continued to serve as Secretary of State during his tenure.
Delegate of Galts Gulch
In early September 2005 The Anti Commi Clan signalled his intent to step down as Delegate of Galts Gulch. The first ever Delegate Elections were then held with Leg-ends running against Secretary of Information Angry Repiles and Donchatryit, the former Delegate of the 2005 Anti Commmunist Alliance. Running a campaign focusing on building up the military and espionage capabilities whilst pledging to expand the size of the region following a recent slump in population, Leg-ends was victorious and assumed the Delegacy in early October.
While sucess could be claimed in boosting region numbers above 400 nations, activity in the region started to wane as the older nations in Galts Gulch began to leave the game. In a last ditch effort to save the region a Constitutional Convention was launched, which gathered interest but failed to secure the future vitality of the region. Eventually, after serving 467 days in the role Leg-ends left the region for a new challenge in the upcoming region of Wall Street.
International Politics
In the early summer 2005 Galts Gulch started a process intended to unify the capitalist world. Building on the sucess of the "Capitalist Economic Organisation" (CEO), which offered mutual defence, Jasque, then a member of RA, was instructed to create a stronger and more powerful capitalist alliance. The result of this was the creation of the "Alliance of Capitalists, Conservatives, and Economic Libertarians". Present at it's inception Leg-ends sought to contribute to this fledging alliance helping out where possible. In August, after Jasque resigned from ACCEL, Leg-ends was nominated for the role of Secretary-General after Directors cited that, as he was not a serving member of the Directorate, there would be seperation of powers between Secretariat and Directorate. Leg-ends was elected Secretary-General at the begining of September and provided a policy of expanding the organisation and widening it's influence.
Standing down at the end of his term, Leg-ends took up a role as Undersecretary for UN Affairs inside the Department of World Affairs. Initial activity saw the passage of Repeal "The Rights of Labor Unions". The Department was then reorganised to create a UN Division, operating semi-autonomously from the Department of World Affairs. Further success followed with Repeal "Hydrogen Powered Vehicles" reaching quorum, but losing a vote in the General Assembly, and Repeal "The 40 Hour Workweek" passing. Eventually the UN Division was merged with the struggling Department of Commerce to create The Department of Trade and National Sovereignty. Elected as the first Secretary of Trade and National Sovereignty, the Department managed further repeals, Repeal "Legalise Euthanasia" , Repeal "Support Hemp Production" and Repeal "Metric System" (Failed). At the Department's peak in the summer of 2006 it was thought that ACCEL had one of the most organised campaign networks in Nation States.
Leg-ends has since taken up a role as Undersecretary in the Department of Administrative Affairs, seeking to improve links between member nations.
Present
After leaving Galts Gulch, Leg-ends became a founding nation of the region of Wall Street, and a signatory to the Charter of Wall Street. The region was founded by several members of ACCEL hailing from dying regions such as Coconut Island, Ayn Rand and the 2005 Anti Commmunist Alliance. Once the Charter was ratified, Leg-ends was appointed Chief Personnel Office, with responsibility for recruitment.
