Lions Baptism of Fire

The Nedalia Lions, in 2 AFN, were drafted into Group D, in the Legalese region, of the BoF Cup. Having come off such impressive performances at the U21 World Cup 14, in which the U21 Lions advanced to the finals, only to be defeated by Starblaydia, much was expected of the team. They started off the competition with a bang, defeating an inferior Euroslavian side 5 - 0. Their next match, however, was a testimonial of the way the rest of the tournament went for the team. They barely sneaked a win by FLP 2 - 1, ultimately sealing their advancement to the Quarter-Finals of the Cup. Manager Randy Gamman's frustration seemed to have an effect on the team, if only temporarily. They went out and defeated Besaneastan 4 - 0, gathering all 9 points from the Group D stage. However, that was where this story ends; a 2 - 1 defeat at the hands of Bettia team that simply outclassed the Lions. Although reaching the Quarter-Finals could not be classified as a failure, there was a sense of disappointment surrounding this team that went to the BoF Cup with dreams of, ultimately, more than a Quarter-Finals loss.
