Overview

A newcomer to the PopularFreedom Rugby League (PRL) the team is based in Locke Harbour South.

History

In 1983 when the city of Locke Harbour along with the remaining PRL teams were assembled to begin the first season of rugby play in the spring of 1984, the biggest debate focused on where the games would be played in Locke Harbour. In the southern region of the massive metropolis you had the main downtown core, and a newly built Locke Harbour Stadium. In the north however you had the aptly named Champions Heaven Stadium. Located closer to the international airport and in a more centralized location the mayors of the supercity through much debate choose the northern facility over the southern one, despite protests from the mayor of Locke Harbour South.

Locke Harbour South has since that time pushed for an expansion franchise. This push has been continually blocked by the northern Locke Harbour franchise however.

In March of 2005 the town of Camelot, in the southwest of PopularFreedom, was granted a rugby franchise (the Camelot Sentry) to begin play this season. The unknown Camelot backers however were unable or unwilling to pay the franchise fee on time. As word of this leaked to the media, the mayor of Locke Harbour South quickly arranged to pay the fee if the team could be set up in the southern part of Locke Harbour. Before Locke Harbour North, home of the Locke Harbour Dragons could object, the PRL accepted. A major reason why the PRL accepted despite the harsh objections from the Dragons franchise was that the other expansion team this season, the Magna Carta Crusaders, had insisted that they be brought in with another team. Therefore with Locke Harbour South so willing, after the collapse of the Camelot entry, to pay the franchise fee and accept a team, coupled with the quality of Locke Harbour Stadium (home of the Locke Harbour Blues), and with the knowledge that it was unlikely any other offer would appear to take over the team, the PRL executives accepted the Locke Harbour South proposal leading to the creation of the Locke Harbour Blues.

Strategy

The team has a lot of speed (both in the flankers and in their backs) and can be expected to kick and pursue a lot.
