A Lord (or Lady) High Commissioner is the viceroy of one of the United Kingdom of Isselmere-Nieland's four constituent regions (Anguist, Detmere, Isselmere, and Nieland). Within the regions, the Lord High Commissioner promulgates bills by granting royal assent, ratifies certain statutory instruments passed by the regional executive council, and performs important ceremonial duties, such as the State Opening of the Legislature and State of the Region addresses.

Appointment

Whilst the Lords High Commissioners for Anguist and Detmere are appointed by the sovereign on and with the advice of the Prime Minister and the respective regional First Minister, the Lords High Commissioners of Isselmere and Nieland are members of the Royal Family.
