Early Life

Matthew Wharton was born on the 10th of June in the year of our lord 1972. Born in the Country of Comore he lived a life of poverty alike all who lived there. At the age of 16 both his parents where taken away and killed by the communist governemnt (Explaining his dislike for Communist and extreme Socialist views and lifestyles). One year later, by the age of 17, Matthew had set up the worlds biggest known rebellion. From this Comore was in ruins. Matthew then relised that the people wanted him to rebuild the country and people where willing to follow him. Matthew then created a democratic country by which all ministers are elected and work with him as an unelected head of state (Titled High Chancellor). He introduced a Conservative way of thinking and gave the nation a new name,Grand Leeds. He made Grand Leeds a People's Republic the day he re-created the Nation.

Joining the Empire

Later Lord Wharton relised that internatonaly they where now a rather large power and desided to join the New Britannian Empire. Doing this he gained respect of King Caleb I the king of the empire and played a key part in changing the way the empire worked.

His Part in the Empire

The Government was set up by the King and was first introduced by Lord Wharton of Grand Leeds. The government of New Britannia, originally did not have a Prime Minister. The position never actually existed until after the death of King James Richard I and the coronation of King Caleb I. It was suggested by Duke Matthew of Grand Leeds to have a parliament and a Prime Minister. Originally, the Parliament was Unicameral and entirely elected, but it later evolved into a completely appointed Bicameral parliament. The prime minister is not required to sit in either the House of Commons, or the House of Lords, but usually sits in the House of Lords. Duke Matthew was placed in the House of Lords. Although Duke Matthew virtually created this new government, he did not assume the role of first Prime Minister. He is considered the father of New Britannian Politics. Later, after King Caleb I resigned from the UN, the Prime Minister was given the role of representing the region in the United Nations as UN Delegate. Duke Matthew later became Prime Minister and served two consecutive terms (the longest term any Prime Minister has ever had). He was recently awarded the highest honour in New Britannian Empire by His Majesty for all his service to the monarchy, The Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Crown Imperial.

Lord Wharton Also set up and designed the party political system for the Empire and in doing this founded the empires first party The Conservative Party.
