Background

Iron like a Lion in Zion

The Parliament Funkadelic of Lunatic Retard Robots is a massive, socially progressive nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate, hard-working population enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and the Environment. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Gambling industry.

Crime is totally unknown. Lunatic Retard Robots's national animal is the Boris the spider, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Triganic Pu.

The Parliament Funkadelic of Lunatic Retard Robots (also known as Hindustan in certain roleplaying circles) is one of the most unique nations active in nationstates. With a strong dose of humor and funk, reggae or blues/rock music, Lunatic Retard Robots (commonly abbreviated LRR) goes forth each day to interact in whatever way seems fit with other nationstates of two major roleplaying groups, namely:

Those nations of A Modern World

Space Technology nations

Occupying present-day India with Beth Gellert, LRR sits at a crossroads between the east and west. Hindustani/LRR factories, modeled after Japanese car plants of the postwar years, churn out consumer goods for all over the world, and the resource-rich province of Jharkand fuels global industry, although stringent environmental regulations hold the total resource output much lower than it would be under a more lassiez-faire government. The top-notch education and social welfare/healthcare programs in place ensure a high standard of living.

In Space tech roleplaying, the population of LRR is concentrated on several large space stations, occupying star systems scattered around the milky way galaxy, but all with major benefits when it comes to trade. LRR also runs hundreds of smaller trade outposts, but these are not nearly as important or well-maintained as the huge shipyards and stations which keep LRR going.

General Information

Government

The traditional multiparty democracy does not exist in LRR, rather there is a very fluid and somewhat odd quasi-communistic system.

While in Space-technology roleplaying LRR generally functions as a very decentralized entity, although like-minded throughout. It might be described as anarcho-communism.

In modern technology roleplaying, a more central but still much more decentralized governing system exists.

The largest governing body is the Popular Congress, in which representatives from the hundreds of districts conduct a perpetual forum on what is usually foreign affairs, since domestic society leaves little to be desired. There are local congresses which decide issues closer to home, such as public works projects and agricultural issues.

Probably the biggest advantage to these systems is their robustness. It is extremely difficult to "decapitate" the government, since there is so much of it, and there are few social issues that create division. Therefore, an aggressor nation would have to hunt down just about every citizen over the age of 18 in order to ensure that some sort of a government would not come out of the ashes of what was.

Such qualities proved vital when the nation of Auman, in retribution for the construction of warships for the nation of Vernii, bombarded much of LRR-earth from orbit, destroying major population centers. The lack of a centralized government allowed the nation to quickly recover.
