"Maglev," or Magnetic Levitation Transport, is a form of transportation that consists of high velocity trains that are propelled, elevated and guided by magnetic force. The potential advantages of Maglev over conventional rail systems include high velocity (comparable with turboprop and jet aircraft) and a potentially low environmental impact.
Most nations make extensive use of Maglev transportation on land, but some also use the technology for other purposes. Some nations incorporate Maglev catapult systems on aircraft carriers and some even use maglev to facilitate the launch of space planes into orbit/ A notable example of which is the MAG-1 Spaceplane of The Phoenix Milita.
