The Liberal Party of Manhattan Prime is the current party in power under the Cuthbert Administration. It is one of the two parties dominant at the moment in Manhattan Prime, rivaling the Conservative Party, although many smaller parties exist.

Stances on issues

Economy

  • Economic regulation: Mininal government interference, follows Laissez-faire model.
  • Income tax: Flat rate, medium percentage
  • Unemployment rate: Concentrated effort to encorage tourism in order to create jobs and bring in money.

Social issues

  • Abortion: Support a woman's right to choose – Pro-choice
  • Death penalty: Opposes
  • Euthanasia: Neutral
  • Gay marriage: Supports
  • Drugs – Cannibis use legalised in special ‘café’s’ only, strict punishments for harder drugs and dealers.
  • Welfare: Reserved for people who cannot help themselves
  • Education – One of the Party's main focuses under Cuthbert. Supports free education for all and have abolished university tuition fees and set up a system of Government grants for university students.

Foreign policy

  • Diplomacy: Very important, War only as a last resort
  • Immigration: Only in cases of seeking genuine asylum from danger
  • Joining the United Nations: Opposes, want to maintain Manhattanite sovereignty.
  • Religious beliefs: Pro separation of church and state, but believe in freedom to choose faith and freedom of worship.
