His Imperial Majesty Emperor Manuel VI was the eldest son of Emperor Manuel V. As a minor he never had the opportunity to rule, and his short reign was ended in under one year by poison, probably by the same court cabal which poisoned his father. He was regarded as a promising and handsome prince. He was succeeded by his younger brother, Isaac.
