Life and History

History of Martentopis

Martentopis was first settled by indians (calling themselves the Martens) escaping the wrath of mnt. Pitburipembo, over 4000 years ago. These indians arrived in canoes, and soon developed a complex technology, inclusing wind mills, water mills, and pulleys. There are still scattered remains of the ancient civilization all around Martentopis. Slowly the highly-advanced civilaztion developed into the feudal age, in which a tight system of hierarchy was created. During this time, the country suffered from repeated attacks from pirate raiders, which they called the Maskuhemu, and the first king, Motton I, decided to do something about this. He made it compulsory to join the navy for boys over 15, and soon an immensly strong Martentopian fleet destroyed all the Maskuhemu sttelements. This was only one of few great military victories of Martentopis in the middle ages, including an attack from Visidong barbarians. Since then, Martentopis has been a great military power, but only recently has it's economy thrived so much.

The life of the great dictator of Martentopis

The previous dictator of Martentopis (or as the population called him, Country Hero or the Great Dictator) was born in a sheep herding village. When he grew up, he was very poor, which gave him the insight to rule a country. In 1962, he applied to run for an election, because the recent dictator, Molk Tinz, had died. The care-taker government denied it, and so the Country Hero took to the streets with 50,000 people to force the government to allow him to run for elections. The government allowed him, and the following year he was elected Dictator of Martentopis. Since then he had banned elections.

Bussiness in Martentopis

The economy of Martentopis is thriving more than ever before! The four huge bussineses include Martentopis Forrestania , which tradesin timber, Olton & Mort Fort, who both trades in energy, and The Martentopis Architect Association (MAA), which build and design many foreign buildings. This organization has recently also opened a building (M Tower)in Maraque. This building is open for bussiness, and you are welcome to send us a telegram asking for a share in the company, or a shop to open in M tower.

Culture

Most of the people in Martentopis follow the ancient religions of the Martens, or christianity. There is, however, also a quite large amount of Bhuddists, especially in the Southern city of Fallan Drem. The Marten religion has two major festivals; the Martaluka, which is the Martne New Year, and the Goddamart, on which the gods supposedly come dow to bless all beleivers.

Politics

Constitution

The entire country is run by Dictator Foolashab. The dictator appoints the leader of the different armed forces (air force, navy, land force, and special operations). The people vote for a representative for each major division (Martentopiano, Tequilan, Martentopis Bay, Greater Whinhich, Central, SouthEast, The Islands), and these representatives get to participate actively in debates in the parliament, which also gets chosen by the people. Whenever a dictator dies, there shall be nation-wide elections to elect a new one. This act was introduced in 1895.

The Army

The four divisions of Martentopian armed forces are seperated into five major armies, who's bases are spread out through-out the country. The commanders of each army are situated in the Royal Gaurd and the Army building in Martentopiano.

Recent Events

Martentopis have taken over a port-city in Akhalla called Ta-akbar-ar, because the Great Dictator claimed people in Akhalla were being severely tortured. Akhalla, however, claimed Martentopis just wanted to own the major oil-rigs in the country. The former Great Dictator has also showed-off its military strength with a massive parade. The Dictator himself was seen sitting on what could possibly have been a nuclear warhead. Some major army generals have recently taken over the country and liberised it during the Operation Tigercat.

Old rulers

The following is a list of the country's rulers since Motton I in 1212, to Motton VII in 1720: Motton I | Motton II | Morty I | Motton III | Morty II | Mobber the lousy | Motton IV the loser | Morty III | Motton V | Motton VI |Motton VII
