Mauro Katoren

Prince Mauro is the son of Princess Serena, the ruling monarch of the Sovereign Village of San Adriano, and of her husband Prince Willem. He was born in 2107, and has a younger sister, Petra. He inherited his father's family name (Katoren) and not his mother's (Eu), despite his mother being the country's monarch. Prince Mauro is the Sovereign Village's Crown Prince, first in the line of succession to the Sanadrianese throne.

Prince Mauro has dual Sanadrianese and Uhuh-Topian nationality; his father, Prince Willem, is the brother of Emperor James II of Uhuh-Topia. Mauro is currently fifth in the line of succession to the Uhuh-Topian throne. He will be the first Ropa-Topian to sit on the Sanadrianese throne.

Education and family

He has a Master's degree in Law from the University of Katoren (Uhuh-Topia), and may theoretically be called upon as a legal expert in cases coming before a Sanadrianese court. He is also an active member of (and contributor to) the tiny Sanadrianese Red Cross, which takes part in humanitarian missions worldwide alongside its much larger Uhuh-Topian namesake.

In 2134, at the age of 27, Prince Mauro married Felisa Vannucci, daughter of the village baker and cousin of Sanadrianese athlete Sabrina Vannucci. For a while, Princess Felisa continued to work at her father's baker's store, and Prince Mauro helped her on occasion. Their first child, Prince Dario, was born in 2138, followed by Prince Sae three years later.

The Prince has dark hair, blue eyes and very pale brown skin (almost Caucasian), which hints at his Wymgani ancestry on his mother's side. Like his mother, he considers himself a member of the village community, and, before moving to Zanski, could often be seen talking to his fellow villagers.

Career and duties

Prince Mauro's future duties as monarch will be essentially ceremonial, since effective authority is vested in the elected Sanadrianese Parliament. Upon his mother's death, he will inherit the title "Lord of Erigatad", which comes with 65,000 acres of land (mostly farmland) in the Scandinvan Empire.

At the age of 37, the Prince expressed a wish to serve his country as a diplomat. This was considered appropriate by Parliament, and was the opportunity for relations to be established with several new countries. Eventually, Prince Mauro was appointed as Sanadrianese Ambassador to the Republic of Zanski. A small embassy was opened in Zanski's capital, Xanka, and the Prince lives there now with his wife Princess Felisa and their two children.
