Mediterranean Treaty Organisation

A defensive military alliance between (so far) the four founding members of DuQuadland, Wilkenstan, Dreanger and Cameronites. The Treaty Charter is as follows: Charter of The Mediterranean Treaty Organization

1. The MTO is a mutual defense and non-aggression pact for nations within the Mediterranean region. For the purposes of this alliance the Mediterranean region is defined as North Africa, Southern Europe and Southwest Asia. All nations located in these regions are eligible for membership though the MTO council may make exceptions in specific cases.

2. The MTO shall be governed by the MTO council which will consist of an representative from each member nation. Each nation gets one vote. Every three months a nation shall be voted as Consul. This position will be give that nation the tie breaking vote in cases where council votes are tied. Non-founding nations of the MTO shall be admitted with a majority of the vote of the MTO council. A nation may be expelled from the MTO with a majority vote of the council if they have violated the MTO charter and therefore their treaty obligations.

3. The nations of the MTO are obligated to offer military assistance to any other MTO member that is a victim of severe military aggression. Severe military aggression shall be defined as: invasion of a nations territory by the military of another, any attempt to destroy a nation’s military or vital infrastructure, naval or aerial blockade, military attacks that produce civilian causalities in excess of 100. The MTO council may call for intervention in other circumstances by a majority vote.

4. Support of rebel or terrorist organizations within the borders of fellow MTO members can be construed as a violation of the mutual non-aggression pact. The MTO may also refuse aid if the war in question was begun by the said MTO member.
