Megalopolis City is the present capital of the Bureaucratic States of Oglethorpia. It serves as the seat of government within Oglethorpia; the judicial, executive and legislative branches all operate in Megalopolis City. Also based within the capital are the Oglethorpian Association of Football and the Strategic Plains Alliance headquarters, as well as other national groups and organizations.

History

Megalopolis City was the second area inhabited of modern Oglethorpia. Settlers found it necessary to branch out from the settlement dubbed Oglethorpia, mostly due to its lack of arable land. Soon what came to be known as Megalopolis City quickly outpaced its fellow township in vitality and size. By the time the Oglethorpian constitution had been ratified Megalopolis City was the largest in the new nation, and thus the leading candidate to become the seat of government.

Over the years city planning has been standardized to a grid system, which has largely come into conflict with preservation societies concerned with keeping the existing historical road systems and maintaining buildings and sites of historical value. Even with these planning difficulties, the population of Megalopolis City has ballooned to over a billion citizens. More recently, efforts have been made to overhaul the city's aging el-train mass transit system.
