Metania is a nation located in the Axis of Absurdity. It is home to a mixed population of insane people, intellectuals, criminals, and intelligent machines. Living in a chaotic mix of high-tech cities, wild forests, burnt wastelands strewn with garbage, and even floating cities, the people of Metania have little that tie them together, especially since their currency, the Broken Coin, is almost entirely in the government's hands, with people losing what little money they do get to insane taxes.
The average Metanian is robbed once every week, and/or robs another Metanian in that time. People often carry a small armory of weapons--since these are all legal, small wars usually occur inside the nation. The police consists entirely of old men wearing outdated uniforms, who don't actually arrest people. Instead they assemble at police stations to watch reruns of their old favorites, since their own televisions were stolen, burned, and sold to the black market long ago.
The Metanian military, in contrast, is incredibly space age--a total lack of ethics laws have allowed genetic supersoldiers, death rays, and even sun-destroying WMDs to be developed. Unfortunately the chaos has lead to those being owned by corporations, not the country.
The country is incredibly environmentalistic, confining people to a few areas, however whenever the local Armadillos get out of control, huge mobs go around killing the excess with cruise missiles, artillery, flamethrowers, and orbital satellites. They are never eaten, though. Various pirate radio stations broadcast their hatred of the government, although the government itself never seems to do anything, its sole main building being a burnt-out 7-11.
Metal Man himself appears to own the massive amount of money, and seems to do nothing with it but spend it on education, the environment, social welfare, and equality. Unfortunately, since the schools must compete with various other forms of education, the entire country's literacy rate constantly fluctuates.
Metania is generally a peaceful nation, but its own citizens seem to have a habit of launching wars against other countries "for the fun of it", as the weapons they use against the armadillos are also used against other nations when the armadillos are not destroying crops. In general, it is advised for most sane people to avoid the country, where corporations of boys selling lemonade control sun-destroying WMDs and destruction derbies are often the only way to commute to work.
