The Greater Kingdom of Midlonia is a large, prosperous island nation in Haven. The Greater Kingdom is generally considered an inoffensive democracy.
The Nation itself is a small Empire, aside from the main land in the Haven there is a colony on Mars and The Western Colonies which are colonies/dependencies in the Haven region. The climates in Midlonia as a whole change dramatically, the warm seaside resort of Linton is vastly different to the icy cold Snowdon Mountain resorts. The barren, sandy atmosphere of Martian Midlonia is, incomparable to the lush, rich soil conditions of The Western Colonies.

Accents and Dialogue
The people of Midlonia tend to be easily distinguished by their accents in the various regions of Midlonia. Many city-dwellers speak a broad accent that over-states various sylables such as "you" becoming "Yooo"
In the countryside the most common accent tends to sound as though most S's have been replaced with the letter Z.
Midlonian architecture tends to be mostly based from the Victorian era of British history, it is also typically frowned upon to build completely square or “unnecessarily” windowed buildings in Midlonia, and special planning permission has to be granted by the government in order for skyscrapers and various other “Modern” looking buildings to be built.
Time for Tea
Many Midlonians insist on having very regular tea breaks, with all but essential services shutting down for 10 minutes every day at 11am and 4.50pm for a quick cup of tea, before work resumes. [or finish in the case of the 4.50pm break.]
A typical item found on many traveling Midlonians is a miniaturized tea set, complete with miniature self-heating kettle, and cups for up to four people.
The break at 4.50pm is a shrewd combination of propaganda and conveinience. the 4.50 break was enacted by King Harold III, whos popularity was waning during the 1940's during the ongoing war with the Freethinker Commonwealth. He created the break so that workers whos jobs were classified as "reserved" would get to go home around 10 minutes early from work each day. This was intended to boost the good feelings of the people who were not involved in the actual war and thus ensure its continuation. However, the defeat of the Midlonian forces in 1952 resulted in the Parliamentary Revolution, or the Moonstone Redemption.
Ethnicity in Midlonia is fairly varied, however there are four "Mainstream" races within the Greater Kingdom.
The Kokiri are predominantely forest dewllers, and tend to live in small groups in treehouses. Though rumours of cities made of trees have been made and speculated, there has never been any true confirmation. Kokiri have pointed ears similar to elves and tend to have a same life-span [that being forever unless mortally wounded] It is also noted that Kokiri rarely grow higher than about 4 feet, [approximately 1 metre] and take on a "Peter Pan" aura due to them forever remaining Child-like in appearence and wonder.
Goron's tower over all other people in the Greater Kingdom, averaging around 7 feet [just over 2 metres] their tough skins and bone structures make them hardy people. Gorons eat precious stones as a form of sustinance, and have a natural affinity for explosives.
They are predominantely Moutain Dwellers with a "fiery" passion of Pyrotechnics. They are known to be also great traders and it is not uncommon to see Gorons wandering around alot of the Greater Kingdom in search for food, and [more often than not] powerful conventional explosives.
Commonly reffered to as "the fish people" Zorans are actually amphibious and can live fairly comfortably on land aswell as under the water. However, Zorans are prone to quicker dehydration than the other species of the Greater Kingdom. Zoras are between 5 to 6 feet tall and have fins on their arms and legs aswell as hands and feet.
The most common species/ethnic group in the Greater Kingdom is the human, their height varies widely as does their hair colour, eye colour and many other things.
Midlonians choose to wear clothing similar to that seen in the UK in the 1950’s and 60’s alongside today’s latest fashions. A strange tolerance has built up for Midlonians in regards to fashion, an unusual thing to note considering the very set ways of the architecture.
And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon Midlonia’s mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On Midlonia's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among these dark Satanic Kilns?
Bring me my Bow of burning gold:
Bring me my Arrows of desire:
Bring me my Spear! O clouds unfold!
Bring me my Chariot of fire.
I will not cease from Mental Fight,
Nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand
Till we have built Jerusalem
In Midlonia’s green and pleasant land.
Note: should be pronoucned "Midlow-nya" as the word was originally pronounced when the Greater Kingdom was formed. (For more information on the origin of the National Anthem see A Consolidated History of Midlonia)
Main Article: Midlonian Armed Forces
The Midlonian Armed Forces are commonly reffered to as the M.A.F, they are responsible for defending the Greater Kingdom and the colonies in the Solar System, the M.A.F has many branches, but tends to be commonly split down to the Royal Army, the Royal Navy and the Royal Airforce, and the Territorial Armed Forces.
Midlonia's primary method of Transporation is by Rail travel. Midlonia mostly relies on steam locomotives and nuclear-powered steamturbine electric locomotives. There are some 240 different railway operating companies across the Greater Kingdom, ranging from the giants known as "The Big Four" [The Midland Railway Company, The Greater Western Railway, The North Eastern and The South Western Railway Companies] to tiny companies that serve local villages, like the Consair and Karton Railway Company.Haven
