The Awakened Empire of The Mindset's ancient home-system was located 11.3ly from Sol, and was the first extra-Solar territory which The Empire extended claims over. Several hundred years of progress showed remarkable advances in the field of astrophysics, leading to the development of the first Voidespace Drives, allowing for swift FTL travel between nearby systems. Increased pressure to develop cleaner propulsion systems due to an increasing awareness of stellar pollution caused by traditional ion drives provoked a sudden surge in gravatic research. This research was to prove fatal, as in 4111AD a small lab orbiting 0.05AU above the Sol-type star of Midna Solaris conducted it's final test of a prototype gravatic shift drive. The resulting unstable gravity pulse distrupted the internal fusion processes of the nearby star, causing a "bubble" to form deep within the core. The star then collapsed slightly under its own gravity, increasing core pressure exponentially until helium fusion began to take place. The heavy, dense core then shrunk further, causing a "domino effect" of shrinking and subsequent moving up the periodic table of fusion. Eventually, approximately 0.16s after the initial gravity pulse, the star's core was fusing into solid iron, at which point the valancy bond tolerences of the hydrogen powering the fusion reaction of the sun caused a massive supernova to consume the entire system, moving out at near lightspeed.

With barely eight minutes warning, sixteen allies FTL'd into the system, and landed over sixty million dropships, sucessfully evacuating almost 514 million people. 419 million died barely sixty seconds after the final transport ship left the system, as a blast of ultra-hard radiation broke down all cellular bonds instantly, literally liquidating all life on the planet before evaporating into the approaching fireball.
