The Army of Koenwitz both governs the country and defends it. Thus, all of the governmental positions are occupied by Army officers. However, the cream of the Army's officer corps are sent to the military commands of the ground, naval and air forces, with governmental positions being filled by veterans of the Great Patriotic War or Royal Army. The structure of the Koenwitzian Army is complicated, but so far has proven highly effective.

Naval Corps

Koenwitz's Navy was only founded in the summer of 2007 following its difficulties in deploying its troops to Boico. Up until then, Koenwitz had not ever had a standing navy, apart from a single battleship that was sunk before it was put to sea. Koenwitz did have a reasonable merchant fleet of some 25 ships based in Elzstadt, but at a time of war these would have to be converted to military usage with subsequent damage to trade. The large freighters were also poorly suited to opposed landing operations. Consequently, Koenwitz purchased a large number of vessels from foreign nations as well as expanding Elzstadt, to create the Naval Corps. The service is still in its infancy, hence the relatively few commands.
