According to some the party name is misleading as their ideology is probably best described as neo-conservative. The party has most of it's followers in the southern and eastern parts of Gnejs where they govern some communes together with the Christian Democratic Party. The party’s leader is currently Knut Atrix, 28 years old. He recently gained power after the previous leader, Glenn-Tomas Hogart, was forced to resign due to a series of “unfortunate events”. The specifics surrounding his departure from the political scene are few and speculations have occupied a lot of space in Gnejs newspapers. Evil tongues have spread gossip about financial fraud and infidelity, which according to political experts have damaged the party’s reputation.

The Moderate Party currently holds 48 of the 349 seats in the parliament.
