Mounthatten Ridge is the newest and one of the most populous cities in Maanenland. It is situated on the north-western border of the Greater Stretford region.

    History

The area where the city stands has remained mostly untouched for the whole of it's history minus a few small farming communities. During the pinacle points of the nations history the area was left out.

In the late 1970s when the blueprints for a new nation were being drawn up in New Westminster it was proposed that a new utopian city be built to alleviate the pressure on housing on the rapidly expanding Greater Stretford area. So in 1979 the Maanenland New Town Corporation was formed and chose an area of flat highland looking down over the city of Stretford as the ideal location for their new city. It remains Maanenland's largest ever civil construction project.

The first residents moved into the Riverside estate on November 2nd 1982 on the outskirts of the city. The original briefing was to create a city with enough housing for 20 million people who were planned to be attracted to industrial and service building schemes in the area. Within ten years the entire city including highways , electricity and underground railway systems were complete as were connections to the rest of the country and surrounding areas.

New Westminster could not afford to construct the entire city itself and sought funding from nearly every major business internationally who built and owned the various estates while the government built the infrastructure services. The high level of debt incurred by the government has resulted in high council taxation.

Since finishing construction on the city it has won numerous awards internationally for quality of life and design. Every aspect of the city was designed all under the watchful eye of the central government. In a recent RMBC poll the city was voted as the pinnacle of national pride and achievement.

    Economy

The metropolis is built around servicing the needs of it's inhabitants and this forms the core business activity in the city. Light manufacturing is commonplace.
