Mushroom Wonderland is the region where your wildest and most psychotic dreams come true (literally), the place where personal freedom and political strength join together in a beautiful and colourful joint. You just have to light it up!

Politics

Elections

Frequent elections are held to appoint the UN Delegate. The elections proceed by having all notions in the region remove all their endorsements and then only give out one endorsment to the region they feel should be the delegate. This method seems to be fairer than the default endorsement system as it reduces the "endorsement for an endorsement" method that some nations use to gain popularity. However as this is a system only enforced by peer pressure, it is still open to abuse.

All nations are free to choose whatever political system better fits their people, as long as it respects the civil rights of every individual. Everyone should be free to do whatever they want with their own bodies.

As for the Regional Political System, it's based on an equalitarian cooperation between all nations, which means every single nation is free to influence the political status of the region. However, the existence of a moderating power represented by the Founder and by the UN Delegate is there to ensure peace and welfare.

Community

It is hard at times to tell how strong the sense of community is in Mushroom Wonderland. With so many nations all with different styles of leadership it can seem as if they would never get along, and they don't at times. But thankfully this is usually limited to the debates over who will be the next Pope. There are some groups of nations in the region who started off together in a completely different region altogether, and this can lead to a stronger sense of community between those particular nations.

Membership

A lot of the nations in Mushroom Wonderland are members of the UN. This comes to some 18 nations out of the region's total of 35. However not all the nations lead an active life in the region and this means that the UN delegate can often hold their position with less than 6 endorsements

Founders

Official founder

The Founder of Mushroom Wonderland doesn't have the wished time to dedicate to the region, but it's capacity to rule without disregarding other nations will was able to set up a system no nation has contested yet. All nations of Mushroom Wonderland know they have the ultimate friend and ally in the Founder.

Other founders

Porto was actually a joint founder of the region; though of course only one nation can be recognised as the official founder. Plus, this once respected nation sold its soul to warlords with absolutely no respect for the peoples of any region, covering its current criminal activities with the blessed name of Mushroom Wonderland. Under our banner it does not fight, we wish peace to all regions and have no enemies. We don't need preventive attacks or lunatic lonely "warriors" to defend our values. Those who wish to always live in war are not prepared to accept the burden of peaceful life.

Religion

Religion played a suprisingly large part in the region for quite some time; well, the choice of religious leader did at least. After a series of popes, the idea of a non-denominational spiritual leader was accepted. This was due in part, to the disagreements, divides, and assasinations over previous choices of Pope (as the postition was known until then).

Spiritual leader

Known as a Pope or non-denominational spiritual leader, depending on what takes peoples fancy at the time. Democratic elections are held for this position with any nation who wishes nominating a candidate.

The role of the spiritual leader consists of uniting all member nations and, mostly, standing as a symbol for everything the region is about. The activities in Mushroom Wonderland are blessed by the spiritual leader.

Papal election of Janury 2006

The issue of a new pope (or non-denominational spiritual leader, to use the approved term) came up again. The candidates for the position were Cardinal Papa Txuna, Larry the Rainbot and, last to join the election campaign, Lo Said Dracma.

For a while the candidates were in a "who can get the highest" competition. Bear in mind that this was through the use of drugs, and not step ladders.

The well respected african, Cardinal Papa Txuna, was shot in the back of the head a few days into the elections by an unknown assassin, withdrawing him from the running.

As a result of this turbulent and troubled religious election, most nations in Mushroom Wonderland have gone off the idea of a spiritual leader and there have been no moves to reinstate this position.

Previous candidates

  • Pope Al Alacra - committed suicide one night after being taped with 2 prostitutes on a park bench in public gardens of Domino Muthaf- -ka.
  • Pope Larry The Rainbot - Killed himself with a swiss army knife .
  • Pope Mushroom II - Assasinated, many believe by Cardinal Richelieu.
  • Pope Mushroom I - Loved by all peoples of Mushroom Wonderland, Pope Mushroom I, The Wise, The King of King-Size Paper Joints, The Great, The Eternal, played a crucial role in the first steps of the region. A symbol of unity, respect and freedom, The Great One managed to keep the region together without any kid of conflicts for all the time of His papacy. He is still remembered as the most prominent human being the region has ever witnessed. Following His death caused by severe dysentery while sleeping (the legend says He ate The Final Mushroom, a magic mushroom so powerful He's still dreaming in an after-life twisted world), Pope Mushroom's funeral was a mark in history and an opportunity for all peoples of Mushroom Wonderland to show their respect and love for this unforgettable Pope. The First Pope and the Greatest one!
Never Reached Papacy
  • Cardinal Papa Txuna - never reached office, having been shot in the back of the head on 11 October 2005.
  • Cardinal Richelieu - Died in prison under mysterious cirumstances on 7 October 2005.
  • Cardinal Lo Said Dracma - Alive and well. Cardinal Lo Said Dracma spends all his time reaching higher forms of knowledge by taking magic mushrooms and snorting gasoline, having intercourse with prostitutes and masturbating to religious masterpieces (includes books, paintings and statues).
