History

On the fourth of May 2005 the nation of Doweir created a pact to protect small nations from larger aggressors, this was called the MAP and it quickly gained many members, on the 21st of May 2005 a BBQ was held in Doweir to celebrate the MAP's increasing popularity, the event was plagued by many members not showing up, and those that did not knowing what to do, this was last that was heard of the MAP as the nation of Doweir vanished from the radar, on the 18th of September the Alliance was restarted by Arakaria who took the position of Doweir, Arakaria then set about recruiting former MAP nations for an up and coming elections for the MAP general council.

Objectives

1. To maintain peace and security for the member nations, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace, and to bring about by peaceful means, and in conformity with the principles of justice and international law, adjustment or settlement of international disputes or situations which might lead to a breach of the peace;

2. To develop friendly relations among member nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples, and to take other appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace;

3. To achieve cross border cooperation in solving pivital problems of an economic, social, cultural, or humanitarian character, and in promoting and encouraging respect for human rights and for fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language, or religion; and

4. To be a center for harmonizing the actions of nations in the attainment of these common ends.

The Pact

Name:

1. This agreement shall be referred to as MAP.

Requirements:

2. Membership in the MAP is open to all other peace-loving states which accept the principal of democracy and freedom and whoose population are not greater than 1.5 billion inhabitants upon joining.

Purpose:

3. The purpose of MAP is to defend other member nations if there has been an unprovoked attack on a member.

Stipulations:

4. Members agree to establish diplomatic relations with each other.

5. Members agree to not restrict the sale of weapons between other members

6. MAP members agree not to provoke other countries to attack them with the intent of bringing in other members to assist.

7. Members will set aside an annual amount of 0.1% of GDP to help with humanitarian and military aid to nations under attack.

Aggression by members:

8. If a MAP member attacks other MAP members then the MAP alliance is obliged to defend the attacked nation/s, unless ethical or moral presidents with in your nation are threatened by your intervention. A vote whether to expel the aggressor will take place, with 50%+1 to expel required.

9. If a MAP member want to engage in offensive military action against a NON-MAP member for any reason, assistance will not be offered without at least a 65% percent approval from the MAP members.

Aggression against members:

10. If a MAP member is attacked without provocation, the MAP alliance will assist militarily and financially.

11. If a MAP member has provoked an attack by a non-member, members will not collectively assist this nation, without a vote of at least 65%. If the vote fails to pass members may offer aid if desired.

Other notes:

12. If a nation grows larger than 1.5 billion while a member, they can still remain part of MAP.

13. Nations larger than 1.5 billion wishing to assist smaller nations, may join as non-voting members.
