::A. I spend a lot of time online, and I usually have a tab open on [[Special:Recentchanges]]. As such, I've recently been involved in quite a few reverts and reports of vandalism. If I am accepted by the NSwiki community as a sysop, I would be able and willing to go further in the pursuit of preventing vandalism. I would probably be less likely to contribute new Infoboxes or engage in anything particularly technical. I still believe a sysop is really no different to a 'normal' user, however, and intend on continuing to contribute to the best of my abilities regardless.

Voided due to inactivity by Goobergunch|? 23:33, 20 Apr 2005 (GMT)

Defaultia has been one of the earliest NSwikians and has written (or at least begun) many important articles, such as Moderator, Region, and Region crashing. Defaultia has also provided us with the temporary logo. --Goobergunchia 20:36, 19 Sep 2004 (GMT)

Apart from a few political enemies (who I've yet to see as active NSwiki contributors), who exactly would this alienate? That's an awfully large position stated in awfully few words. - Frisbeeteria 22:54, 10 Oct 2004 (GMT)
  4. I can see, actually, whom this would alienate and discourage from becoming productive contributors to the NS Wiki project. Nothing personal, but Knootoss is a nation that not many would consider seperable from nation-based biases. I find I must vote no.TJHairball

Comments/Questions

  • Knoot: Well, I'm not sure how to count the votes here (I'd say Frisbeeteria counts as 'pro' too. The lesson of Florida: when in doubt, count the votes in your favour ;) Anyway I'll just wait untill people come and complain about my inherent bias and incompetence.
Meh. I don't count the nomination as a vote, but I'm for letting Frisbeeteria vote - when I nominated Defaultia, I immediately voted "1. Goobergunchia As in nomination". --Goobergunchia 16:34, 4 Oct 2004 (GMT)

You are too kind ^_^ *is a happy elf] now*

  • Since it seems particularly pointless to wait a proper seven days, I'm granting Knoot provisional sysop status now - however, the vote will remain open for the full seven-day period and this status can be revoked if there's a shift in the voting margin. --Goobergunch|? 20:17, 7 Oct 2004 (GMT)

  • I'm not sure I'm really keen on the idea of someone who can pointedly indicate on his Jolt Forum Profile that his occupation is "emotionally harassing SeOCC" is the kind of individual that should be moderating a site where you're probably going to be having a lot of contribution by the CACE community, of which myself and SeOCC are a part. There's a clear wedge between much of the CACE and former SATO/WBO entourage that, should either of the polarized members of those parties become moderators of the NSwiki site, might compromise an impartial view of the NationStates world should any one of them get... shall we say... as "childish" as that profile entry? --Galdago

  • Fris : I realize that not many people know me as a player, so I've compiled a list of some of the topics I've been either principal author or a significant contributor. Some of these, like Sirocco's Language of NationStates posts I've merely transcribed and Wikified. Others, like Gameplay and Halls of Memory, germinated as ideas on the forums, but grew into what you see here. Hope this helps.

  • I've been quite pleased by this nominee's performance as a wiki community member, but I'm concerned by the relatively low number of edits, as well as timing issues. The Wikipedia standard, such as it is, calls for typically 1000 to 2500 edits before many users will consider them for the position. Obviously, this is a new wiki with many fewer pages, but that doesn't mean there isn't a similar demand. I'd like to hear from the nominee (assuming s/he acccepts) explain why they would make a good admin before casting my ballot. → Fris Θtalk 01:19, 8 Dec 2004 (GMT)

    • I have knowledge of the policies, workings and etiquette of the wiki, open mind, and, as I believe, an ability to handle disagreements. Regarding the timing, I have to agree that my participation is indeed non-systematic. -- Wilem Engelking 09:50, 9 Dec 2004 (GMT)
  • I'd like to remind both candidates that they are wiki members too, and may cast votes for themselves.

Pacitalia (7/0/1)

Sysophood granted by Goobergunch|? on 16:07, 3 Jun 2005 (GMT)

Pacitalia has been a dedicated NS Wikian and has written some fantastic articles, such as his entry on Pacitalian and (in my opinion), his summary of the Second War of the Roach. He would make an excellent administrator. --Sarzonia (user talk) | Sarzonia

Yes, I accept the nomination. Thanks. :) Pacitalia 02:53, 26 May 2005 (GMT)
(Btw, the history says I edited this page because I moved this from the "new admins" page to here.)

Support

  1. I definitely support being nominated and am humbled to have been. If I am accepted as an administrator, I will continue to uphold the neutral values and objective point of view of this site, along with the excellent quality articles we strive to achieve in all our work. I appreciate the nomination and the support from Sarzonia. I think Goob can trust me to do a great job, too. ;) Pacitalia :: 20:28, 26 May 2005 (GMT).
  2. I support the nomination of Pacitalia to administrator. He has personally helped me with my page and the format of it, and has shown that he is a knowledgeable person, not only with using the specific codes to enhance pages, but also helping out others to improve their own pages, as well as being a level-headed person, free from controversy. Euroslavia :: 00:06, 27 May 2005 (GMT)
  3. Pacitalia has certainly contributed a lot, as can be seen from Goober's comment... he'd make a fine sysop and although it's fair to say I don't neccessarily get along with him, he definitely has my vote. That is how much I think he'd make a great sysop. Liverpool England 06:03, 27 May 2005 (GMT)
  4. Despite the fact that he made one of my articles a Stub (*gasp*), I, too, believe that Pacitalia would make a great and dedicated sysop. Spruitland 06:14, 27 May 2005 (GMT)
  5. I think Pacitalia, is a relatively experienced user of NSwiki, and has shown himself to be sensible in his conduct here. Rechze(talk) 12:55, 27 May 2005 (GMT)
  6. As the person who nominated Pacitalia, I have to say that I believe he has shown obvious dedication to the Wiki and to NS in general by being a friendly helping hand and I believe his ability to stay neutral is outstanding. Sarzonia
  7. Support, for reasons already mentioned. I am hoping he will be actively patrolling shit too because that is always useful :) -- |Knoot|KNOOtalk 12:12, 28 May 2005 (GMT)

  1. I haven't noticed a great deal of activity from this member ouside his own pages, but that's not necessarily a disqualification. I vote "meh". → Fris Θtalk 11:51, 3 Jun 2005 (GMT)

  • True that LE and I don't necessarily get along, but we patch up our differences right away. I know he loves me. And I love him back. I apologise for any psychological disturbance this comment may have caused you all, hehe. Pacitalia 06:10, 27 May 2005 (GMT)

Gruenberg2 (5/0/0)

Sysophood granted by Goobergunch|? on 00:05, 7 November 2005 (GMT) Resigned 20:15, 21 November 2006 (GMT)

Gruenberg2 has stepped in to fill the void left when RL demands slammed Goobergunch and NS Mod demands took Frisbeeteria away from NSwiki. He has been especially helpful in reverting vandalism and watching out for linkspammers. His edit history is not as extensive as some, but much of what he has done is devoted towards making the wiki better and safer. This should be a principal requirement for NSwiki sysops.

Many thanks Frisbeeteria. I accept the nomination.Gruen2alk 23:30, 30 October 2005 (GMT)

  3. Indeed, and I usually don't like voting on these due to the fact that I'm the one that has to grant sysophood. --Goobergunch|? 20:29, 31 October 2005 (GMT)
  4. The man is a wizard. Got my factbook up and running, knows his way around the wiki, and is a generally good guy. Looking at his history he seems perfect for the job. I'm glad to put in a word for him. Xanthal 05:15, 1 November 2005 (GMT)
  5. With Rechze inactive, Goober tied up, Fris busy with forum stuff, and Knoot and I struggling to fill the void (esp. with the Hogsweat-related vandalism thing), I have to say, we really needed a new sysop. What makes this even better is that the nom's for Gruenberg, someone who I trust fully to do his job and cooperate. His skills are outstanding for being here for a short-term period. Full support for his nomination. --Pacitalia|Pacitalk 21:11, 6 November 2005 (GMT)

A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with?
A. I spend a lot of time online, and I usually have a tab open on Special:Recentchanges.
2. Of your articles or contributions to NSwiki, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. Um...not really, actually. My pages are in bits and pieces, really. I don't tend to spend long pieces of time on particular pages; I p
