NSwiki is an online NationStates encyclopedia. Therefore, there are certain things that NSwiki is not.

  1. NSwiki is not a personal homepage and/or file storage area. NSwikians have their own personal User pages, but they are used for working on the encyclopedia. If you're looking to make a personal webpage, there are many free homepage providers on the Internet.
  2. NSwiki is not a free wiki host. You may not host your own website or blog at NSwiki. If you are interested in using the wiki technology for a collaborative effort on anything other than writing the NationStates encyclopedia, even if it is just a single page, there are many sites (such as SeedWiki or Riters.com) that provide wiki hosting (free or for money). You can even install wiki software on your server.
  3. NSwiki is not a roleplay site. Historical accounts of roleplay activity belong here. Active roleplaying should be done on the forums.
  4. NSwiki is not a link repository. If you want to track your forum posts, use the Forum Search feature on Jolt.
  5. NSwiki is not a Discussion forum. If you want a regional forum, visit ProBoards.com or InvisionFree, where they do that sort of thing. The task here is to create NationStates encyclopedia articles. Please try to stay on task.
  6. NSwiki is not a chat room. If you want to catch up with your pals, use the NationStates telegram system or one of the many chat clients like AIM, MSN, or IRC. Please don't use Talk pages as a substitute meeting room.
  7. NSwiki is not a vehicle for advertising and self-promotion. We don't need articles on items just because a contributor is associated with them. Links to your roleplay storefront are fine, links to your Ebay storefront are not.
  8. NSwiki is not a storefront or catalogue of products for sale. If you have items with an associated NS roleplaying history, then that history may deserve an article. Publishing a list of weapons remaining in inventory does not. Create a storefront in International Incidents or offsite somewhere, and link to it from your nationpage if you wish, but run your business elsewhere.
  9. NSwiki is not the place to retaliate against your enemies by vandalizing their nation pages. Constructive edits to nation and region pages are welcome. Alterations to make someone else's nation or region conform to your political views or agendas are not. Edit wars only serve to aggravate administrators and community members. Please follow NSwiki etiquette guidelines when editing someone else's nation or region.
