Summary
The Liberal Republic of Nakobosnia is a massive, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.012 billion love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 100%. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Information Technology.
The words 'private' and 'enterprise' must never appear in the same sentence, the government has begun breaking all large businesses into thousands of mom-and-pop general stores, flash floods that dams could have controlled regularly ravage small towns in mountain valleys, and children are brainwashed at a young age to accept "Love and peace!" as a way of life. Crime is totally unknown. Nakobosnia's national animal is the Penguin, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Canadian Dollar.

History
Nakobosnia was formed in 1000 AD as the Nakobosnian Kingdom, when the various tribes and chiefdoms of the Isle of Bosnia in the middle of the Great Ocean united. Originally a loose kingdom where the tribal councils of the different regions held the most power, the Nakobosnian King and his family slowly started taking more control over the nation of Nakobosnia. Eventually, by the year 1435, Nakobosnia had became a repressive feudal state, where the average life expectancy of a peasant was 24 years. That all changed when the Republic of Canadia first made contact with Nakobosnia. Canadia had been running a successful liberal state, and in 1591, the Nakobosnian Revolution occurred, and the current government was overthrown, and the dictator King Linden and his family hung. This was the first and only time that capital punishment had been used under the current Nakobosnian government. The Nakobosnian government has continued to be operated in mostly the same way ever since then. The official constitution was adopted in 1602.
