The official National Anthem of Britannia Parvus, entitled 'Victoria Gloriaque Britanniae' was written by the Britannian composer Edgar Hastings sometime in the eighteenth century, and was first performed at the Royal Theatre in Marlowe in 1753.
Tune
The tune composed by Hastings was entitled 'Uniones Excelses', and this tune has been used since the anthem was composed. It has an ABA form, with two rousing choruses on each side of a quieter middle section. The anthem was composed to be played by full military band, and this is how it is played on state occasions. In its entirety, the song is just over two minutes long; the full length of this is sung on state occasions, but often only one chorus is sung on occasions when the King is not present - for instance at orchestral concerts, where it is custom to play the national anthem at the end of the performance.
