The National Patriot Alliance, known colloquially as the NPA is a political party from the Democratic Republic of Patricania. It is the third-largest party in the country, and holds approxiamately 3% of the seats in both the Senate and the House of Delegates. It is a socially conservative party, and protectionist and pro-centralization when it comes to economics.
History
At the beginning of the 21st century, civil unrest began to grow in Patricania. The citizens of the nation, particularly the youth, were becoming increasingly disillusioned with the fascist government. Riots and protests occured throughout Patircania, and, seeing this, the more moderate members of the ruling party realized that their reign was coming to an end. Two parties, the National Party and the Patriot Party, were formed with almost identical goals; to end the oppressive fascist government, yet preserve the traditional values of Patricania.
After the establishment of the Republic in late 2005, both the National Party and Patriot Party took part in politics and had representation in Congress. The parties regularly cooperated with one another and voted similarly, providing substantial competition for the Liberal Party. In January 2006, it was announced that the two parties would merge, and in February, the National Patriot Alliance was formed.
