Naverius is the capital city of the Theocracy of Havanis and one of the greatest cities in New Mactopia. It is located on an island between the arms of the Tathos river delta in southern Havanis. The city is bisected by the Grand Canal, which runs from Nap Hill in the east to the Imperial Shipyards in the west, and many smaller canals branch off from the Grand Canal in the richer areas of the city. The city is divided into five areas -

  • The Slums - This is the oldest area of the city and where the poorest denizens of it's streets reside. Here the streets are lined with three or four story timber frame houses, which block out the sun most of the day, and therefore this is a popular area with the Assassins, Theives and Seamstresses of the city. It is a dangerous ares to visit at the best of times, and tourists are advised to stay away.
  • Canalside - The richest area of Naverius, and where many succesful merchants make their home. The area has many canals running through it, connecting with the Grand Canal to the north and the sea to the south, and it is these canals that the rish use; the cobbled streets are for the 'commoners'. Sights in Canalside include the Conjurer's College, for all you budding wizards, and the Grand Temple of Bashaal, god of the sea.
  • The Shipyards - A predominantly industrial area on the western side of the city. Here, many fine ships are constructed for the Havanisian navy, and for the many merchants and explorers of the city. The shipyards are dominated by the Gigantus of Naverius, an enormous statue of ivory and bronze depicting Bashaal.
  • Fool's Market - Fool's Market is where much of Naverius' second class folk reside, and, as the name suggests, it contains Market Street, where the market is held every Wednesday and Saturday. It is here also that many of the Guilds call home. Along Guild Row and Galumphing Road can be seen many of the guild houses, including the Explorer's Guild, Assassin's Guild and the Idiot's Guild.
  • The Temple - Above Fool's Market on Capital Hill and in the northernmost area of the city is The Temple. It was recently renamed "The Temple" after Vallus Titus became God-King of Havanis; it's former name was The Citadel. It is here that the ruling of Havanis takes place - the Imperial Palace is here, along with the Oligarchy Building and The Keep, stronghold of the army in Naverius.
