The Andrew Bren Era

History of Nedalia before Andrew Bren became the first president is kept completely under wraps, unknown to anyone in the outside world. It was the first elected president who led the country out of isolation and into the international scene, becoming officially part of the Atlantian Oceania after signing the official papers in Vilita. The government Andrew Bren set up was made up exclusively of Nedalia Liberal Party members, as it was the only political party in Nedalia at the time.

Battle of the Southern Islands

In 3 AFN, The Holy Saints, former western neighbors of Nedalia before the collapse of their government, moved in on the southern islands of Temple Island and East Island in hopes of annexing them. While not Nedalian property, this was viewed by by the nation as a threat, so Commander Horacio, with permission from President Andrew Bren, moved in troops to both islands. Fighting ensued on both islands, causing the very first war Nedalia was involved in against another nation. The battle lasted 2 days, costing over 700 Nedalian lives, mostly on East Island, and over 500 Holy Saints' deaths. The major battle happened on East Island, with Holy Saints flying 45 heavy assault aircrafts to bomb Nedalian positions on the island. However, that was quickly countered by the Anti-Aircraft Artillery which were stationed before hand by the Nedalian army.

Latao forces attempt to intrude under the guise of peacekeeping forces, with the reluctant agreement of President Andrew Bren, but it was nothing more than a front. The apparent reason for the Latin interest was to claim a large island in the canal between The Holy Saints' main land and itself. Latin officials claimed that if Holy Saints agreed to cede part ownership of the island, they would recognize Temple and East Islands as Holy Saints property. Quickly countering this measure, Nedalia met with Holy Saints officials and came to an agreement.

The agreement stated that Nedalia would recognize the islands as Holy Saints land under the condition that Nedalia face no intrusion in its colonization of Land No. 20, as officially recognized by AO maps. The reason Nedalia sent the military to the island and fought the Holy Saints army was simple: had Holy Saints claimed the islands, Nedalia's southern shore would no longer have free access to the ocean, as Holy Saints would have control of the waterway all round the coast. With the colonization of Land No. 20, formerly a nation called Leoni, this no longer became an issue and effectively neutralized the Latin threats being made to both nations.

The Latao Invasion

An earlier bombing campaign by the nations of Starblaydia and Abattoir that threw the country of Latao into chaos had cast a question mark on the peace of the southern Atlantian Oceania region. However, due to the control of the Starblaydi forces, especially the Starblaydi Navy, the war did not spread, and instead Latao assigned a new President, Mr. Fronz Van Papen. The early signs were promising, as the new Latin government began making a push towards stabilizing relationships with its prior enemies, including Nedalia. At the time, there was an official state of no contact by the two countries because of Latin involvement in the Battle of the Southern Islands. The first talks between the nations involved discussing Latao and its future were held in Kafra, and they went well.

However, things started taking a turn for the worse. With the second round of talks around the corner, dubbed "Kafra 2005" by Latin officials, the language from Latao started to sound discouraging. The rumbling over the Starblaydi Navy being so close to Latin waters became an issue for the government, and even led to minor threats being made. The main issue at hand, however, was the discovery that there were Lamonian nuclear warheads in the hands of the rogue opposition deep in the mountains of Latao. The Nedalian government wasted no time making it clear to Van Papen that they would not tolerate rogue nuclear warheads on Latin soils, but the Latin government did nothing to act upon the new threat. Pressure came from Starblaydia and Lamoni, but again, Latao failed to act. Fearing for its national security, Nedalia looked to Starblaydia for help.

Upon request, Starblaydia sent its technicians and engineers to set up a defence against nuclear strikes in Nedalia, after which they began devising a plan of their own. Once Latao declared that they were suing Starblaydia for its "crimes" against their country, it became obvious that nothing had changed from the old regime. Lamoni volunteered to host the talks after Nedalia suspended Kafra 2005, but there would be little talking done. While Latao were given the impression that they were going to receive money from Starblaydia for the so-called crimes, their Lord-Protector had other plans. Their patience had been completely worn out, and their actions at the talks showed. Instead of carrying money to the meeting, they carried automatic weapons, which were promptly fired at the entire Latin delegation, reportedly killing all of them. At the same time, Nedalia, Lamoni, and Khazaron were preparing their invasion against Latao, whose leaders fled the country once they heard of the oncoming attacks, effectively ending the conflict.

The invasion went as smoothly as one can plan, with Khazaron invading from the south, Lamoni from the north, and Nedalia from the east. The Lamonian forces were the first to hit land, followed by the Nedalians then the Khazaronians. Upon advancement, Starblaydia finally retreated its naval presence from the area, but Krytenia quickly took their place, patrolling the waters around Latao. Meanwhile, on the ground, quick advancements were made towards the capital of Latao by all three forces with little resistance faced. The heaviest fighting involved the Khazaronian forces just south of the capital, but was also quickly quieted. The capital was taken with little resistance, but two problems were arising at the same.

Lamonian forces found out the location of their nuclear experts who were being held hostage by supporters of the Van Papen government, while Nedalian forces had located the area which the nuclear weapons, held by supporters of the Omsec government, were at. The NGM had been dispatched prior to the invasion of the capital, and by the time the city had become under the allies' control, the NGM were facing their final battle with those defending the weapons.

The battle lasted a mere hours, with the NGM ruthlessly ended the last sign of resistance in the fallen country, clearing the way for Lamonian engineers to come in and disengage the warheads. With Latao fallen, Nedalia moved in and annexed the eastern part of the country in order to help its forsaken people, signalling the end of the Latao war.

Transition into Regional War

Barely into his 3rd term as President, Andrew Bren fell ill and passed away amidst heavy mourning by the Nedalian people. Nedalia Reform Party leader Yasmine Dala'a won the national presidential elections that were held over Dewars Strand, the Foreign Minister and Bren's right-hand man, and also new leader of the Nedalia Liberal Party.

President Dala'a first order of business to significantly increase the Defense Budget of the country in anticipation of a regional war as tensions escalated across the board between the SDL and the SAAS. Her tactics proved right; with war finally breaking out, the Dala'a administration were fully prepared having brought the Defense Budget spending up to $24 trillion.
