History

U21 World Cup 14

Hosted by Total and Utter Insanity

The U21 World Cup wasn't only the first ever tournament the had participated in, it was the site of the very first match in team history, a victory against Lovisa. The tournament went extremely, with the unranked Nedalia team showing the universe its superb attacking talent, advancing all the way to the Finals. It was an unbelievable experience for all those involved and all Nedalians.

  • GAME ONE, Group E: Nedalia 5 - 3 Lovisa

- The 1st professionally match of any Nedalian team ever, no one knew what to expect of the Lions, including the team itself. This one a game that many predicted the ex-finalists would win with ease, and theses “many” were proven wrong. The end result was telling enough, a high scoring affair coupled by many defensive lapses. The now famous Nedalian offense machine, however, was in full effect, demolishing the Lovisian defense. Two goals each from Nene and James sealed the deal, and Karry added one for extra measure.

  • GAME TWO, Group E: Nedalia 3 – 3 Kazakhstania

- A hard fought affair that ended up in a draw, this one a cracking match from start to finish. Again, the Nedalia defense failed to live up to its offense, conceding 3 goals and looking generally lost. The offense, however, was as fluid as ever, with offensive weapon James grabbing a brace and Nene adding the last. This left Nedalia with 4 points from 2 games, and virtually guaranteeing qualification to the 2nd round.

  • GAME THREE, Group: Nedalia 3 – 4 South Osettia

- Nedalia’s first recorded loss ever. South Osettia played like composed veterans, successfully able to break through the defense time and time again. This game also marked Constantine’s coming out party, grabbing Nedalia’s third and last goal in spectacular fashion. Even though they lost, they made it through to the 2nd round, where they would face Chicanada. The other goals came from Gordon and Nene.

  • GAME FOUR, 2nd Round: Nedalia 6 – 5 Chicanada

- In a thrilling match, this one went down to the wire, with Constantine scoring for the second game in a row. This time, the substitute found the net in the 90th minute, eliminating Chicanada in the most painful of ways. The same story as the other 3 matches was consistent: a extremely potent and beautiful offense paired with a mediocre defense. The unranked Nedalia team got its other goals through Nene (2), James, Karry, and Point. This match is looked upon as the game that changed the perception on this young Lions squad.

  • GAME FIVE, Quarter-Finals: Nedalia 2 – 1 Crystilakere

- The first match in which Nedalia’s defense played acceptable, and a good thing too, because it was needed. Crystilakere’s own defense gave many a problem to the Nedalian offense, holding them to “just” 2 goals, the lowest total of the tournament for the Lions. After a 1 – 1 draw at the end of regulation time (goal scored, again, by Nene), it went all the way to the 118th minute, when playmaker Innit Point chose a wonderful time to score his first goal of the tournament. This set up a semi-final showdown between the Lions and the number 3 ranked Sarzonia.

  • GAME SIX, Semi-Finals: Nedalia 3 – 2 Sarzonia

- In perhaps the match of the tournament for the Lions, they defeated the heavily favored Sarzonian squad to advance to the Finals against number one ranked Starblaydia. The match was passionately played, a high intensity affair. The Nedalian goals came by way of Nene, James, and Karry. Choas ensued after the match as Nedalian fans stormed the pitch and a brawl occurred. Thankfully, no one was hurt and those who instigated it were aprihended. Nonetheless, that did not take away from what surely was a match for the ages.

This has set up a most intriguing Final: The number one ranked team vs. the perennial unranked underdogs. Starblaydia vs. Nedalia, it has come down to that. One thing is for sure…whoever comes out the victor will have earned it with blood, sweat, and tears.

- The highly anticipated matchup started with a bang. Starblaydia scored through Matranga in the 1st minute, taking Nedalia completely by suprise. Despite controlling most of the possession and continuously attacking, Starblaydia went up 2 - 0 before the 2nd half, thanks to a counter attack finished by Buathiang. In the 2nd half, Nedalia shored up its defense and its offense, finally breaking through in the 71st minute through a superb individual goal by sensation Nene. However, that would be the last goal Nedalia would score in U21 World Cup 14, graciously accepting the silver medals in what was a tremendous tournament for them.
