Neorvins is the capital of Kelssek and its third-largest city. It is the centre of the nation's federal government, with the Parliament, Supreme Court, and Presidential Palace located there. As the backdrop of many events in Kelssek's history it is also of great cultural and historical significance. The city's main employer is the public sector, with many cooperatives and state enterprises headquarted in the city in addition to the activities of the federal government. The city's status as capital also makes it a minor financial centre with all the major local commercial banks maintaining offices in Neorvins for easier contact with the financial regulatory authorities. High-tech manufacturing industries are also located in the outlying suburbs of the city.

Geography

Neorvins, located on the south end of Kelpton Bay at the mouth of the Sutter river, is within a federal capital district called the Neorvins Federal Territory (NFT). In 2006, the city's estimated population was 5.3 million, while it has a metropolitan area population of 15,014,984. While English is the dominant language, the city also has significant French and Japanese minorities which are centred around the Quartier Francais.

The city's landmarks include Parliament House, Federation Park, Canada Square, the National War Memorial, Pacific Tower (the nation's tallest building at 531 meters from ground to roof) and the Palace Complex. Bay Square North, the area south of Cohen Park, has also developed as a major convention and exhibition centre, transforming Neorvins into a significant business destination, helped by its location roughly equdistant from the the centres of Anglophone and Francophone culture (Kirkenes and Outineau, respectively), which may also have played a part in its selection as the Guedian Kingdom's capital in 1519.

Transportation

Neorvins's public transportation system is highly developed and is aimed at minimising the need for car use. Commuter rail (Neotrack) and mass transit railways (NUR, Neorvins Underground Railway) carry 4 million commuters daily, while buses provide service to almost every street in the city.

Federal Highway 1 (Trans Kelssek Highway) runs through the city's downtown core, running south to Saint-Remy, Outineau, Pimbury and Willsden Harbour, and north to Kirkenes, Redswyth, Latrobe, Clayquot, Kenting Rush and the Nouveau Bretagne border. Federal Highway 42 (Douglas Adams Highway) begins at the intersection of Downie Avenue and Beveridge Street, and runs west to Mazinaw, Vickery, Burnaby, Laneux and Dieppe to the Coocoostan border, where it connects with the Trans Coocoostan Highway. A system of expressways, maintained by the city government and financed by the federal government, provides intra-city transportation.

Inter-city rail services are located at the Bay Square railway station, which is served by Via Rail, the Kelssek Pacific Railway (KPR), and the Kelssek National Railway (KN).

The city has two public airports. The Neorvins City Centre Airport is a commuter airport used for short-range travel and general aviation, while Mackenzie King International Airport, located 32km northwest, is a major passenger airport with 35 million passengers annually, the main hub for Maple Star Airlines and a secondary hub for Air Kelssek.

Neorvins is home to three major universities, with Victoria University (referred to as VUN) among the nation's most prestigious.

Media

The Neorvins Herald is the main daily newspaper and is considered one of Kelssek's major "newspapers of record", while the afternoon paper Neorvins Sun tends towards more tabloid-style news coverage. The KBC Neorvins studio is also the main studio from which the KBC World Service is broadcast.
