New Drakensberg Range is he successor to a nation called Drakensberg Range. Drakensberg Range lasted for a couple of months from late 2005 to early 2006, and then ceased-to-exist because of user disinterest. However, the user then decided to try at NationStates again, and founed New Drakensberg Range in December 2006. New Drakensberg Range then decided to move to England, where the original Drakensberg Range resided, and to try and run for government again. Eventually becoming Minister of Defence and Intelligence twice, NDR (shorthand) would lead the New England Protectorate (England's regional army) in the defence of The Pacific in August 2007; and has also been a member of the NEP during the Lazarus campaign in April 2007. NDR has also been the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, twice. At the moment, NDR has put forward his interest to become the UN delegate of England. The government style of NDR is classified by the UN as having the ideals of "liberal democratic socialists". NDR aims towards maintaining a strong economy, whilst ensuring the freedoms of the people. As a unforseen result, the wealthy of NDR have become a highly targeted class by the people and the government, forced to pay for the brunt of taxes, and the target of harsh legislation.

History
December 2006
New Drakensberg Range was founded 268 days ago (as of the 13th September 2007). He immediately joined England, because that was where the original Drakensberg Range used to live. England had always been a place the user of NDR enjoyed being in, and he has never seriously considered leaving. Soon after joining, NDR got a job as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs under His Majesty (the Foreign Minister). However, HM was quite inactive, and NDR received no direction as to what he was supposed to do. Therefore, when new elections started, NDR put into his candidacy to become the Minister of Intelligence and Defence. Since he was the only candidate, he became the Minister.

To the present day
When Youngtung II resigned, NDR became the Minister of Defence and Intellifgence again; and set about re-organising his office; a process which has just been completed. His appointment was approved by the cabinet, and there was opposition when the new UN delegate of England (His Majesty) decided not to include NDR in his cabinet. By popular demand, NDR remained Minister of Defence and Intelligence.
Currently, NDR has just decided to run for the UN delegateship of England; and is also working towards putting together an alliance of defender regions to liberate San Francisco Bay Area after it was conquered by raiders in early September.

The Ever So Slightly Lunny Home of New Drakensberg Range is a massive, socially progressive nation, renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.57 billion love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 73%, and even higher for the wealthy. A small private sector is dominated by the Automobile Manufacturing industry.
Soylent products are an expensive commodity due to a lack of volunteers, only fully-fledged members of MENSA are allowed to vote, CEOs and corporate executives are frequently found striking for better stock options, and eminent domain has been abolished. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. New Drakensberg Range's national animal is the bulldogmal, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the poundency.
