New Folsom

New Folsom is a region that has large Nuclear Missle silos. It was founded by Akilopolis 2 after the collapase of Folsom and the deletion of Akilopolis. It's current President (UN delegate) is Browness. It's vice-president is Zakalak, and it has almost 160 nations. Recently New Folsom invaded along with an ally, and almost won. But the delegacy was snatched back the next day. The army has about 30 nations in it.

History of Old and New Folsom

The Founding of Folsom

Folsom was founded in December 2005 by Akilopolis. Akilopolis had been gone from the realm of NationStates for about 2 years before returning. Akilopolis vowed to make Folsom one of the most powerful regions in all of NationStates, but to do this he needed to have people.

The Immigration

Akilopolis went around to other regions putting up flyers and talking to people to ask them to move to his new region of Folsom. Many people were interested and Folsom steadily grew. Then people began coming in waves and before Akilopolis knew it, he had 50 nations in Folsom in only about 3 weeks.

The need for Government

Now that Folsom was well established as a region, it needed to have a stable government. So Akilopolis created 3 branches of the government: The Lord of War, who would be in charge of all the military, the ambassador, who would be in charge of making alliances and keep relations between nations and regions alike peaceful, and The President, who would vote in the UN on decisions and lead the government of the region. This simple Triumvirate was the first form of government in New Folsom, and it provided a skeleton model for the government in New Folsom today.

The First Government Officials

Folsom now had government offices. Now it needed government officials. The people decided that Akilopolis should just appoint someone to fill in the offices. So this is what Akilopolis did. He appointed himself as Lord of War, Ugnabad as Ambassador, and Vollendet Umlaufsziet as the first President.

The Army of Folsom

Folsom had everything now except for an army. Akilopolis realized that in order for Folsom to stay competitive with other regions, there needed to be an army. So Akilopolis went recruiting throughout the region of Folsom and soon Folsom had a small but well-trained army. It wouldn’t be long before the army would be put up to it’s first test.

The Infiltration of Elkelen

During Akilopolis’s recruiting efforts, he met a refugee named Codenarra. Codenarra was formerly from the region of Elkelen, but he had been exiled by the new dictatorship regime. Akilopolis was interested as this could mean a new test for his green army. So Akilopolis and President Vollendet Umlaufsziet debated about whether Folsom should help Codenarra or not. Akilopolis wanted to invade Elkelen just because it would mean some good on-the-battlefield training for the troops. But President Vollendet Ulaufsziet didn’t want to invade somewhere without compensation. Then Codenarra suggested that if we successfully took over Elkelen, all the former natives of Elkelen would leave and come to Folsom. Akilopolis and President Vollendet Umlaufsziet readily agreed to this plan. Now it was time to invade. As Akilopolis got the troops ready, President Vollendet Umlaufsziet did some spying on Elkelen. He found out that Elkelen was surrounded by a huge wall and that one must know the password in order to get through. He also found a native of Elkelen, Strifekloud, who was willing to give us the password if we promised to liberate the region. President Vollendet Umlaufsziet handed this information over to Akilopolis. So now the invasion was ready. The Folsom Army struck swiftly at night. Using the password “armchair” provided to them by Strifekloud, the Folsom Army along with a few Elkelenian rebels, who were led by Codenarra, entered Elkelen and made their way to the capitol, where they soon had control of the government. Akilopolis was now in control of Elkelen and he placed the entire region under martial law. The Folsom soldiers rounded up all of the Elkelen dictators and ejected them and then they left. Most of the Elkelenian natives followed them back into Folsom, but some went their own way. Folsom had experienced war for the first time and they were victorious.

The impeachment of President Vollendet Umlaufsziet

Vollendet Umlaufsziet was a very charismatic person. He had gained the love of his people through his speeches, both before he was President and after he was President. So many Folsomites thought that this was a good appointment for President. At first, President Vollendet Umlaufsziet was a very active President, calling up every single person in Folsom and asking them how they wanted him to vote in the UN. He helped orchestrate the invasion of Elkelen along with Akilopolis. Folsom grew rapidly during this time, reaching 50 nations. But soon President Vollendet Umlaufsziet got lazy. He stopped calling people to vote in the UN, and just voted the way he liked. Many people complained when this happened, but many more complained when the President stopped even going to UN meetings and voting in them. In fact, Vollendet Umlaufsziet had stopped participating in the Folsom Government at all. The President didn’t want to give up his office even though he didn’t want to have to be bothered by his duties. So Akilopolis and a few Folsom soldiers went to President Vollendet Umlaufsziet’s headquarters and arrested him for dereliction of duty and not following the will of the people. Vollendet Umlaufsziet was impeached and through a unanimous decision of the people, he was sent into exile in the Rejected Realms, where he spent the rest of his days.

The Second Presidency of Folsom

Following Vollendet Umlaufsziet’s banishment, Folsom was without a Chief of State. To remedy this, Akilopolis chose Ugnabad, Folsom’s ambassador, to become the second President of Folsom. Ugnabad agreed and was sworn in to office in mid-January 2006. Thus started one of the greatest periods of time in the history of Folsom and New Folsom. President Ugnabad was a good President, with fresh ideas. The office of Ambassador was changed to become the office of Vice President. Ugnabad’s Vice President was Amityvillington, who had been appointed Ambassador following Ugnabad’s inauguration. Folsom continued to grow in this time, at many points almost reaching 100 nations. Alliance talks with President Saturnia II of Sea Land also succeeded and Sea Land became Folsom’s first ally. Soon after, President Grandon of Greece agreed to an alliance with Folsom and Greece became Folsom’s second ally. All of Folsom was happy and doing well, but Akilopolis, being the rash military leader he was, got a little itchy for battle. So Akilopolis and his cousin, Savage Wookies, decided to do a little invading of their own. This would eventually lead to Folsom’s downfall.

The Turkey disaster

Akilopolis and Savage Wookies asked Ugnabad’s permission if they could go on a little private vendetta of theirs, to invade Turkey and to avenge their ancestors, who were oppressed by the Turks. Ugnabad agreed and Akilopolis and Savage Wookies, along with Rome XIII, set off for Turkey. The Turks did not put up much of a fight and Akilopolis soon had control of the Turkish government. He banned all of the Turks from the region leaving only himself and Savage Wookies in the entire region. Savage Wookies taunted the Turks as they were forced to leave their home. Then Akilopolis placed unsurpassable barriers on the borders so that the Turks wouldn’t be allowed to enter their region again. That night Akilopolis and Savage Wookies celebrated, but little did they know that their little invasion and taunting of the Turks had angered the NationStates Gods, otherwise known as the MODs. When Akilopolis and Savage Wookies woke up in the morning, a huge missle was bearing down on them from the MODs. The missile destroyed Akilopolis and Savage Wookies and all of the barriers that had prevented people from entering Turkey. Amazingly Rome XIII lived and brought back this terrible news to President Ugnabad and Folsom.

The Great Exodus

All of Folsom was in turmoil. Their founder, recruiter, and military leader was dead, along with his cousin. Folsom was weakened and very susceptible to invasion. President Ugnabad was faced with the biggest decision of his Presidency. He could either stay in Folsom and try to keep the nations together, or he could send Akilopolis 2, Akilopolis’s son, to found a new region for all of Folsom to evacuate too. In the end he sent Akilopolis 2 in a ship to find somewhere big enough for all of Folsom and for future nations. So Akilopolis 2 went across the great sea of NationStates, until he spotted a whole continent that was uninhabited. As soon as he landed in February 2006, he placed his father’s Ewok flag into the ground and claimed this region for Folsom and that it would be called New Folsom and that it would become greater than Folsom ever had been. He continued on to give one of the greatest speeches since the beginning of time, but it was too bad nobody was there to hear it. He then telegrammed Ugnabad of the news, and that it was time to start sending nations into New Folsom. Ugnabad ordered the immediate evacuation of Folsom. He built a wall around Folsom and had a giant iron gate made. President Ugnabad provided all the financial support he could in order to try to get all the nations out of Folsom and into New Folsom, but of the 90 or so nations in Folsom, only about 60 came to New Folsom. When President Ugnabad realized that no other nation would be able to join New Folsom, he walked outside of Folsom, closed the iron gate, locked it, and handed the key to The Gatekeeper of Folsom, who is the only person who can allow access into and out of Folsom. And so Ugnabad boarded the last ship and headed to New Folsom. And so Folsom ended.

The Beginning of New Folsom

During the early days of New Folsom, before President Ugnabad arrived, New Folsom needed to establish itself. New Folsom had the same basic government as Old Folsom did, with a Lord of War, Vice President and President, except for one thing. In the final days of Old Folsom, Ugnabad had created the office of NSA (National Security Agency) advisor too, with Yu-Jayopia becoming the first NSA advisor. Zakalak, one of the first to arrive in New Folsom, played the role of President for a day before handing it over to Vice President Amityvillington. Amityvillington held the Presidency of New Folsom until President Ugnabad came back to New Folsom. President Ugnabad became the first President of New Folsom. He continued to hold the office during the rebuilding stages. New Folsom regained much of the power it had in Old Folsom during this time, achieving near the same number of nations and more soldiers to join the newly formed NFA (New Folsom Army), led by Akilopolis 2. President Ugnabad was happy with the progress New Folsom had made. But he was getting tired and he didn’t think he could take much more excitement. That mass evacuation from Old Folsom had taken years off of him. And so in March 2006, President Ugnabad resigned his office as President of New Folsom. The First Election=== ===Young New Folsom was now leaderless. So Akilopolis 2, decided to hold a Presidential election for the first time instead of appointing Presidents as his father did. Many people wanted to run for President, but only 3 were nominated. They were Amityvillington, the current Vice President and interim President, Benhamiin, a very active member of New Folsom society, and The Dem Hedonist Front, who was relatively new to New Folsom but had some new ideas. When the election started, Benhamiin and Amityvillington were relatively tied in the poll, with The Dem Hedonist Front receiving little votes. The lead kept switching back and forth and it was a very close election, but Amityvillington eventually emerged victorious. The final tally was Amityvillington with 15 votes, Benhamiin with 13 votes, and The Dem Hedonist Front with 2 votes. Amityvillington was inaugurated later that same March and became the first ever elected President of New Folsom.

The Young Amityvillington Administration

Amityvillington’s first act as President was to appoint his former opponent Benhamiin as Vice President of New Folsom. He then ordered a mass recruiting effort on the parts of all nations in New Folsom, in order to get to the milestone of 100 nations in New Folsom, a feat that had almost, but not quite, been achieved in Old Folsom. New Folsom rallied to this cause and after only one week, New Folsom had over 100 nations. Amityvillington also saw the need for more allies, and so began alliance talks with the region of Solsthiem and their “Reaver”, New Exemplar. After a few talks back and forth with Akilopolis 2, Amityvillington, and New Exemplar, Solsthiem became New Folsom’s third ally. Now Akilopolis 2 wanted to prove himself in battle.

United States of America Conflict

For weeks, the NSA had been gathering intelligence on the region United States of America. It seemed ripe for the taking with a lazy President, or so it seemed. Akilopolis 2 sent in soldiers a few at a time, in order to lull the Americans into complacency, while slowly gathering endorsements to Imperial Nod. But Oiseaux Rochers, the President of United States of America, through means of his own, realized that if he didn’t act soon, Imperial Nod would soon replace him as President. So he banished Imperial Nod from the region, along with several other New Folsom soldiers. Akilopolis 2, sensing defeat, gave the order to retreat, and the remaining New Folsom soldiers fled back with him to New Folsom.

“Oblivion” Scandal

It was not long after the failed attempt to invade United States of America that a scandal rocked New Folsom. It seemed that during the United States of America conflict, Amityvillington had been seduced by a woman codenamed “Oblivion”. He was slowly seeing more and more of this “Oblivion” woman and he spent less and less time performing his duty as President. But he still retained the sense of mind to resign his office instead of trying to keep it, a mistake that former President Vollendet Umlaufsziet had made. And so with Amityvillington’s resignation in early May 2006, New Folsom again needed a new President.

May 2006 elections

The resignation of President Amityvillington left New Folsom in quite a stir. Akilopolis 2 called for candidates to run in the election. As in the last election, 3 candidates ran for President. The first candidate was Vice President Benhamiin, a long time member of Old and New Folsom, who was in the NSA at the time and who had run for the Presidency once before. The second candidate was Zakalak, another local. The last candidate was KualaLumpar, a relatively new member of New Folsom with some new ideas. He had risen to the rank of Captain in the New Folsom Army by showing great valor in combat. As the election began, Benhamiin and KualaLumpar were in a deadlock, but as time went on, more and more people started voting for KualaLumpar. The final vote was KualaLumpar with 16 votes, Benhamiin with 9, and Zakalak with 3. KualaLumpar is inaugurated on May 12th, 2006 as New Folsom’s third President.

Regional Intelligence Agency

KualaLumpar’s first official act as President of New Folsom was to disband the NSA, due to Erand’s, the NSA advisor, resignation. He then founded the Regional Intelligence Agency, otherwise known as RIA. He appointed Foxes United as the first RIA director. It wasn’t long before Foxes United would be able to test the skill of his agents in the field.

Eastern Islands Terrorist Attacks

The election of KualaLumpar as President invoked the wrath of two men, Wagtopiana and Defcon 4, both relatively new members of New Folsom. Heated arguments had been had between the young President and Wagtopiana, until one day, KualaLumpar ordered Akilopolis 2 to banish Wagtopiana from New Folsom. But Wagtopiana left New Folsom and retreated to his original homeland of Eastern Islands. There, along with Defcon 4, he stirred up trouble, and with his lies, he made the Eastern Islands turn into a terrorist region whose sole purpose was the utter destruction of New Folsom or the death of KualaLumpar. But the RIA wasn’t slacking off. Using spies hidden in Eastern Islands, Foxes United was able to gather information that Eastern Islands was planning on attacking New Folsom or stirring up a revolution. Akilopolis 2 then leaked this information to the public, and to the regions Eastern Islands was trying to ally with. Now that nobody would ally with terrorists, the Eastern Islands abandoned all sense of subtlety and openly began attacking New Folsom. But before they could do much harm, the MODs used their divine intervention to destroy the terrorists and drive the remainder back to Eastern Islands. Eastern Islands was left to it’s ranting and New Folsom was back at peace.

KualaLumpar takes charge

Now that the Eastern Islands was no longer a problem, KualaLumpar could finally get down to business. First order on the list was getting more allies in case another nutcase came along. So talks began with KualaLumpar and the President of Bam Thwok, Petrania 2. After a few short meetings, Bam Thwok agreed to an alliance. Now New Folsom needed more nations. So KualaLumpar created the office of immigration and appointed Browness the first Immigration Minister. Browness worked hard and got New Folsom to 200 nations although due to a massive drought and famine, that declined to about 180, which was still a lot. KualaLumpar also gave permission for the New Folsom Times to start up, a local newspaper that is headed by Editor Ugnabad, former President of Folsom, and writers Pissedoffwhitemen and Crazykingdom. Now it was time for New Folsom to become a big name in the NationStates World.

NFAP

Akilopolis 2 had an idea for a super alliance, an alliance that would dwarf other alliances. This alliance would enable New Folsom to invade wherever they wanted. This alliance was to be called New Folsom Allied Powers, or NFAP for short. The first region that Akilopolis 2 went to ask to join NFAP was Sea Land and their new President, Pi9. And on June 9th, 2006, NFAP was officially founded with New Folsom and Sea Land as the first members. Soon after, Solsthiem and Bam Thwok joined in as well.

The Battle for Middle Earth

New Folsom had been in alliance talks with another region, Middle Earth. Middle Earth’s leader, Lucazmodei, had agreed to an alliance with New Folsom, but before the alliance could be made official, a coup was staged in Middle Earth and Lucazmodei was removed from his office. He asked for New Folsom’s aid in getting rid of the invaders and New Folsom obliged. New Folsom stormed Middle Earth quickly and effectively, and in a short but violent battle, they retook Middle Earth and put Lucazmodei back into his leadership position. Lucazmodei was very grateful for New Folsom’s aid, and with that, Middle Earth became New Folsom’s ally.

The End of KualaLumpar’s Administration

KualaLumpar’s administration ended with a bang. New Folsom invaded their old enemy Eastern Islands and gotten rid of the terrorist Wagtopiana, and they also became allies with Alpha Quadrant the Milky Way. KualaLumpar was pleased with his achievements, but he had grown complacent in New Folsom and sought adventure once again, so he packed up his bags and told everyone that he was going to leave. The region was sad and shocked to see KualaLumpar resign his office. But he was not quite gone yet, as Akilopolis 2 convinced him to stay until a replacement could be found for KualaLumpar.

June/July 2006 Elections

As with the last 2 elections, there were 3 candidates in this election. This time, all 3 candidates had been long time New Folsomites. The first one was Zakalak, the vice President. The second one was Browness, the Immigration Minister, and the last one was Imperial Nod, the joint second-in-rank of the NFA, next to Akilopolis 2.

The Presidents of Old and New Folsom

1st President of Folsom:

President Vollendet Umlaufsziet (impeached and deceased) President Vollendet Umlaufsziet was the first President of Folsom, which was founded by Akilopolis in December 2005. Under his reign, we invaded and conquered Elkelen. But through an unanimous decision of the people, he was exiled for inactivity. He died in exile in the the Rejected Realms.

2nd President of Folsom:

President Ugnabad Under his reign, Akilopolis led the horrendous attack on Turkey, which came away with a bittersweet victory. With the Founder's death, Ugnabad sent the explorer Akilopolis 2 to start a colony called New Folsom, which was founded in February 2006. President Ugnabad remained in Folsom until the end, before boarding a ship to New Folsom.

1st President of New Folsom:

President Ugnabad (resigned) When Ugnabad came to New Folsom, Vice President Amityvillington and Zakalak, who both held Ugnabad's place until he arrived, stepped down and Ugnabad became the first official President of New Folsom. We rebuilt much of the glory of Folsom in New Folsom during this time. We also made allies with Sea Land and Greece in this time. But he resigned his office due to stress, and in order to have more time with his family.

2nd President of New Folsom:

President Amityvillington (resigned) President Amityvillington was the first formally elected President of New Folsom. He beat Benhamiin 15 votes to 13 votes. He served as the Vice President of New Folsom, under former President Ugnabad. Also, the region of Solsthiem became an ally of New Folsom early in his term. One invasion was held during his term, an unsuccesful one against United States of America. We also reached the milestone of 100 nations in New Folsom during this term. President Amityvillington resigned because of the distractions of a woman code-named "Oblivion".

3rd President of New Folsom:

President KualaLumpar (resigned) President KualaLumpar won his election against New Benhamiin 16 to 10, while Zakalak took 3 votes. He served as a Captain in the NFA before turning to Politics. His first act as President was to create the Regional Intelligence Agency (RIA) and appoint Foxes United as the first Director of the RIA. He also founded the Ministry of Immigration and appointed Browness the first Immigration Minister. Early in the term, New Folsom was attacked by a few terrorists from the Eastern Islands, but they were succesfully dealt with. New Folsom hit the 200 nation mark during this term, although due to a famine, the population fell to 178 nations by the end of his term. New Folsom also became allies with the regions of Bam Thwok and Alpha Quadrant the Milky Way. The New Folsom Times also started, with the first editor, Ugnabad. NFAP, the New Folsom Allied Powers, was also officially founded, on June 9th, 2006 with New Folsom and Sea Land becoming the first members. Solsthiem and Bam Thwok also joined NFAP. New Folsom also succeeded in liberating the region Middle Earth, and to show their gratitude, Middle Earth became New Folsom's allies. New Folsom also took out the Eastern Islands and Alpha Quadrant the Milky Way became New Folsom's ally. KualaLumpar then resigned in order to found his own region.

4th President of New Folsom:

President Browness President Browness won his election with flying colors getting 21 votes out of a total of 39. The other 18 votes were split between Zakalak(10) and Imperial Nod (8). Browness was the Minister of Immigration before running for President and was very succesful. First act was to replace himself in the Immigration office with Rotten Death.
