New Ronin

Introduction

The People's Syndicalist Commune of New Ronin, commonly called New Ronin, is a concensus-based directly democratic syndicalist commune in which the Syndicalist Roninese Union (SRU) in association with the popluation of New Ronin control the commune in all of its aspects, socially, politically and economically. New Ronin is located in the eastern part of the continent of South Columbria and is between what is arugably the world's largest river system (the Great Saturnia river) and Eastern Ocean.

Since independence from France in March of 2004, New Ronin has embarked upon a path of re-industrialization and the raising of living standards to a suitable, sastifactory point. This development, specified in the commune's first three-year plan in March of 2006, has resulted in the elimination of unnecessary labor, the raising of living standards for the first time in almost twenty years, the increase in the amount of automation in re-animated manufacturing industries and the progressive development of knowledge based services. However, much needs to be done before New Ronin could make a another great leap forward.

New Ronin has recently signed on to the International Fair Trade Agreement (IFTA), allowing it to have a "guaranteed" source of raw materials, agricultural products and machinery from a anti-capitalist source, and has been expanding (somewhat) its diplomatic ralations with many nations in the Conference of Anti-Capitalist Economies (CACE) as of late.

Economy

Functions

The economy of the People's Syndicalist Commune is under the total and complete control of the people through the Syndicalist Roninese Union (SRU) of which everyone is a part of (once one is born in New Ronin or has absolutely immigrated). The SRU then is divided into eight economical committees that are then controlled by those who voluntarily work in each of the economical sectors of the Roninese economy (which is the majority of the entire active working-age population):

(1) The Machine Parts and Machinery Manufacturing Committee (MACMANCOM)
(2) The Electronics Manufacturing Committee (ELECCOM)
(3) The Automobile Parts Manufacturing Commitee (AUTOPARMANCOM)
(4) The Automobile Manufacturing Committee (AUTOMANCOM)
(5) The Textiles and Popular Items Manufacturing Committee (TEXTPOPITCOM)
(6) The Distributing Committee (DISTRIBUTCOM)
(7) The Steel Production and Metals Production Commiteee (STEELMETALPRODCOM)
(8) The Software Products Development Committee (SOFTPRODDEVCOM)

The voluntary work in each of these committees results in the production of exportable manufactured material which is shipped from the ports of New Ronin to IFTA signatory nations and in return, recieve shipments of raw materials, machinery, and agricultural products from those nations in a revolutionary form of entrepot trade.

Economic Sectors

There is one thing (economically-speaking) diffrentiates New Ronin from other nations that are both in the IFTA and the CACE. And that difference is that its economy is not based on the means of exchange, and as a result, does not measure its economic progress by GDP and GNP. Instead, it measures it by the domination of either of the two sectors that make up the Roninese economy: the Non-Credit sector and the Credit sector.

The Non-Credit sector is made up of all the items that are available to the Roninese People that are in of high quantity and as a result, no cost. The Credit sector is made up of all of the items that are in short quantity and as a result, have to be rationed. In order to get ahold of the rations, one must have his or her DiGiCard on him for use.
