New Sparrow
Fall 2003:
The Evergreen Republic of Bradfordsburg founds Sparrow, one day later The Grand Duchy of Borogravia Moldavi comes into existance. Twelve hours later Bradfordsburg invites The Duchy to move into Sparrow and take the Regional UN Delegate position.
The Duchy starts recruiting nations to join the small region eventually inviting The Principality of Tygaland to join with the nation Lesser Borogravia. Our population has approached 20 nations. The region holds it's first elections. Bradfordsburg is elected Regional President, Borogravia Moldavi is elected first Chief of Defense. Shortly thereafter the Chief of Immigration, The Holy Mongoose, resigns. Tygaland is invited to take the post and it is renamed Immigration Minister. Our population stands at 32 nations.
In a period of less than one month Tygaland as IM increased the population of Sparrow to 240+ nations. Throughout this time period the Regional President and Founder, Bradfordsburg, grows more and more hostile towards the collaboration of support that has developed between the nations of Borogravia Moldavi and Tygaland, along with the support shown these two nations by the Congressional President, Alluhaland. Kept in check periodically by Borogravia Moldavi as Regional UN Delegate a timid peace is maintained.
Bradfordsburg continues to install his "minions" into positions of power within the regional govt. creating a position known as Executive Lieutenant for his RL friend Pacific Bell. Also in the region at this time is the nation Franco-Unamerica (whose name will not be mentioned any further here).
Pacific Bell and Bradfordsburg start a spam campaign against Tygaland, creating puppets with pornographic names depicting Tygaland and spamming his telegram box with threatening messages. Tygaland resigns and leaves Sparrow. In protest Borogravia Moldavi and Alluhaland also resign from their elected positions within the regional govt. Borogravia Moldavi agrees to stay within the region to serve as Regional UN Delegate as he had done from the regions birth.
Borogravia Moldavi goes offline for the night. Sixteen hours later Borogravia Moldavi logs on to find himself and 70 other UN nations from the region Sparrow in The Rejected Realms.
Bradfordsburg has had a meltdown and griefed Sparrow. Borogravia Moldavi moves quickly to telegram all nations in The Rejected Realms from Sparrow to move to the newly created region Exiled States of Sparrow (ESS). Within 12 hours 82 nations (some from Sparrow that had not been ejected) have moved to ESS. Shortly thereafter Bradfordsburg and Pacific Bell are deleted by the Mods of NS for their actions.
ESS is abandoned and nations return to Sparrow. Now founderless it was vulnerable to outside invasion. Therefore it was decided by the interim govt created in ESS to reselect Borogravia Moldavi as Regional UN Delegate in order to maintain order and peace.
Then the spam began. Bradfordsburg re-emerged as Bradfordsburg II, III, IV and A Republic Verde to spam our boards. Thus a password was installed on Sparrow and the decision to move to New Sparrow was made.
Tygaland, interim Regional President in ESS and elected Regional President in Sparrow after the return, was selected by the elected govt to be the Regional UN Delegate in New Sparrow since Borogravia Moldavi was the founder of that region and since he would need to stay in Sparrow to facilitate the transfer.
Tygaland and the govt of Sparrow moved to New Sparrow along with a temporary deployment of SECO troops to secure the region during the initial move. Martial Law was then declared in Sparrow and strict inactivity laws were put in place to maintain the stability of the now more vulnerable region.
In all 50 nations moved from Sparrow to New Sparrow. Over 100 nations, disenchanted due to the actions of Bradfordsburg, ceased to exist due to inactivity and several others left to form their own regions.
Sparrow ceased to exist and was refounded by Borogravia Moldavi in January 2004 and remains a peaceful and free region within NationStates.
Alluhaland, elected Immigration Minister of Sparrow after the return, along with the assistance of Tygaland and other members of the govt. have been working to build New Sparrow into a large democratic region.
Since January 2004 New Sparrow was griefed, deployed SECO troops to help its allies in various battles, pulled out of the ADN, and was one of the founders of The Union of Sovereigns.
New Sparrow entered into a population crisis after the departure of Darwi and the resignation of Sir Stephen Paul in December/January 2005. After efforts to stop the population crisis came too little, too late, in June 2005 founder Borogravia Moldavi officially announced the closure of New Sparrow, and the region was password protected.
New Sparrow will always be remembered by its former citizens and allies.
