The Nieland- or Grand Duchy-class battlecruiser was the first non-aircraft carrier capital warship designed and built by the Royal Shipyards of Isselmere-Nieland. The battlecruisers were constructed for the Royal Isselmere-Nieland Navy as command cruisers with a strong missile armament for use against other large missile-armed surface combatants. The design served as the basis for the Admiral-class command cruiser.
