Introduction

The Niplomian Spirit is the National Anthem of Niploma. The anthem celebrates the birth of the Social Democratic Republic of Niploma in 1936 by the Socialist Resistance.

Traditionally, although more of an 'urban legend', this anthem was sung by members of the SR after storming the the Governmental House. It is more thought to be a piece of Nationalistic Patriotic art for the Niplomian peoples.

It is extremely important one notes the song is sung completely to the theme of Internationale, the famous Anarcho-Socialist national anthem in the early years of the USSR.

Niplomian Spirit

To stand and protect our family

And fight against tyranny.

So to pray to our respective religions

And respect all colour and creed.

I’ll stand to protect my brother

From eternal enemies.

I’ll always help my fellow sister,

From traitors of equality.

Lets stand in our Communities,

Respecting peace and love;

The Niplomian Spirit

sears across the land!

So Comrades come rally,

For this is the time and place.

The Niplomian Spirit

sears across the land!

We’ll never give into the oppressors,

Fighting as Communities,

Freeing all men as they come,

Fighting for a Poblacht.*

I’ll defend my liberty to live free,

For my family and Community.

To see a beautiful new dawn,

For the people of Niploma!

Lets stand in our Communities,

Respecting peace and love;

The Niplomian Spirit

sears across the land!

So Comrades come rally,

For this is the time and place.

The Niplomian Spirit

sears across the land!

Criticisms

Some critics in Niploma are quoted as having said the song is a piece of mere fanatical nationalistic garbage. Indeed, there is an arguement behind this which has caused Niplomian Spirit to be contested in the country. Some have even called for a new Anthem with a slightly more Liberal approach to the writing.

Why?

  • Too Socialist

Critics argue that, especially with the theme being Internationale, that Niplomian Spirit is a very Socialist aired anthem. They further this by adding that in a Western Liberal Democracy why is there such a Socialistic National Anthem?

It is seen as too left leaning for use of words such as 'Communities' being used excessively and with capital letters. Its also derogatory by having called the middle and upper classes, or bourgeiouse, 'oppressors' in the anthem.

  • Gaelic

In a mixed society why is the Gaelic word for Republic, Poblacht, used? Does this not offend the huge Buddhist and Muslim population? Many argue its a pointless addition to the anthem. However many leaders of the mentioned religious groups have heraled support for the use of Gaelic words.

  • Not Original

Both sides may argue that the anthem is not at all original. It steals melody and general theme from Internationale.

  • Violent

Pacifists and peaceful protestors against the anthem say it spurs on violence. It mentions the word 'fight' three times and mentions the words, 'defend', 'enemies' and talks of 'freeing' all men - perhaps by violent means such as a coup. However, supporters point to the line, 'Respecting peace and love' as the key meaning of the song.
